Your responsibilities

Are you an experienced and motivated Software Developer with a passion for delivering complex and compelling information systems end-to-end?

Are you at ease with the server-side Java ecosystem, with writing frontends in JavaScript and not afraid to optimise database queries, diving into data integration processes or configuring and debugging messaging / eventing systems?

Join our agile team of talented software developers and take part in implementation, testing and commissioning of new features for CERN's HR applications!

You will be joining the group within the , where over 70 talented international colleagues are dedicated to delivering information systems for all of CERN's business functions.

The product management driven group is working for clients across the whole Organisation (HR, Finance, Planning, Safety, Security, Purchasing, Logistics, and Accelerator Operations).

The type of products under the group's responsibility ranges from custom-made solutions for a few users to large and widely integrated systems with 15,000+ users.

Hence, working for the BC group provides numerous perspectives for being in touch with different technologies and business areas.

Within BC, the HR development team is responsible for advancing over 50 different human resource tools and products. These tools are designed to support the entire organization, aiming for an automated and user-friendly HR employee experience that enhances engagement.

Functions

As a Full-stack Software Developer for HR tools in the Business Computing Group, you are responsible for the design, delivery, or development and configuration of computing services, applications or shared platforms.

You will join a self-organised agile team, and participate in all efforts necessary to reach the commonly agreed team objectives and to fulfil the SLAs that have been agreed upon together with the responsible product manager.

Specifically, you will :

• Define appropriate implementation and delivery strategies;
• Deliver and configure computing solutions;
• Be responsible for testing and documenting developed solution artefacts;
• Participate in the maintenance and third line support as well as in continuous improvement and knowledge sharing efforts.

Your profile

Skills and / or knowledge

• Good Knowledge of Java, Spring Boot and React;
• Design of databases / repositories : Oracle SQL or equivalent;
• Initial experience with testing, diagnosing and optimizing software.

Eligibility criteria :

• You are a national of a .
• By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Software Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree .
• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
• Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
• Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
