Oracle Database Operations Lead H/F
SigmaCanton de GenèveSigma Suisse is partnering with a large international organisation operating in a highly regulated environment to recruit a Oracle Database Operations Lead.
The Role
You will join a global DBA team supporting a very large Oracle estate across on-premises and hybrid/public cloud environments. Based in Geneva, you will take ownership of the database platform system side: operating systems, engineered infrastructure, high availability, replication, monitoring, and the gradual migration from on-prem to cloud.
This is a hands-on, deeply technical role, closely connected to CTRM and analytics platforms, where most critical business data flows transit.
Key Responsibilities
-
Own the deployment, operations and support of Oracle database platforms on-prem and in cloud/hybrid environments.
-
Administer and secure Oracle 19c+ environments (incl. RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, ASM, CDB/PDB), and ensure high availability and recoverability.
-
Operate and improve database monitoring and performance tooling (OEM/monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning).
-
Support Oracle middleware / data replication stack, including Oracle GoldenGate, and contribute to zero-downtime maintenance approaches.
-
Provide operational support around CTRM and analytics applications: installation support, critical process monitoring, and close collaboration with business and development teams.
-
Work across infrastructure, security, network and application teams regionally and globally.
-
Define/document standards, procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement (automation, operational excellence).
- Participate in planned off-hours activities when required (major changes, incidents, occasional weekend work).
Required Experience & Skills
-
1015 years (target) in a similar role as an Oracle DBA / database platform administrator in mission-critical environments.
-
Strong hands-on expertise with Oracle 19c+ and core components: RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, ASM, CDB/PDB, performance diagnostics and tuning.
-
Solid OS/platform experience: Oracle Linux and Oracle Solaris (standalone and clustered).
-
Proven experience with Oracle GoldenGate (replication, resilience, maintenance windows, downtime reduction).
-
Experience supporting hybrid/public cloud database services and platforms (AWS and/or OCI, hybrid connectivity and operations).
-
Good understanding of database infrastructure: server platforms and enterprise storage (, engineered systems / enterprise compute & storage ecosystems).
-
Automation mindset with practical scripting skills (Shell and/or Python) to streamline operations.
-
Strong troubleshooting and RCA capabilities across hardware/software incidents.
-
Excellent English communication (written and spoken).
-
Oracle certification required (as per hiring brief).
