Microcaps is an ETH Zurich spin-off founded in March 2019. Our unique technology allows us to produce highly precise and innovative microcapsules that empower materials to unlock new capabilities; all tailored to various markets from cosmetics to nutraceutical and pharma.

Today, Microcaps technology can be found in a cosmetic skin serum, encapsulated FineFragrance products and vegan caviar. Our aim is now to expand our production capacity and introduce a visionary and sustainable water-based fine fragrance. Subsequently, we plan to incorporate all-in-one nutrition delivery products into our portfolio. Join us on our mission to bring Swiss precision to the realm of microencapsulation.

To strengthen our team in Worben (BE) we are looking for:

Operator for Production Plants (m/w/d), 100% (Shifts)

Do you fit one of the following criteria?

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in GMP-regulated production environment in the food, cosmetics, or pharmaceutical industries.

OR

  • Chemical, engineering or other technical background and a keen interest in production.

Microcaps is currently setting up a production site to scale our novel technology. This first site will encapsulate fine fragrances and other cosmetic products. We need smart committed people with a “can-do attitude” to work in our production area.

As an operator for your production plant, you work in a team on a shift schedule (early and late shifts). Your main focus is operating the production machines, but you also proactively coordinate with your teammates on a variety of support tasks. In all areas, you keep an eye out for potential improvements regarding process parameters, work instructions, as well as machine and infrastructure conditions.

Tasks

  • Independent operation, monitoring, and cleaning of your production plant
  • Coordinating and supporting the supply of necessary raw materials and the production of intermediates.
  • Teamwork with the industrialization team to fine-tune the process parameters
  • Precise execution and documentation of work instructions & in-process controls
  • Support trouble shooting of out-of-spec (OOS) productions in collaboration with the Quality & Development Team
  • Troubleshooting and execution of minor repairs & maintenance work
  • Process and plant optimization including reduction of waste within the framework of LEAN and Shop floor management
  • Compliance with our safety, quality, and hygiene standards

Requirements

  • Completed training with a Swiss Federal Certificate of Competence (EFZ), ideally as a polymechanic, production mechanic, plant operator, or in a comparable technical profession.
    Alternatively: training as baker, chef, or similar profession combined with technical training or work experience as a plant operator.
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in GMP-regulated production environment in the food, cosmetics, or pharmaceutical industries, or in related fields (e.g., dairy/cheese, paints/coatings, engine oils, etc.).
  • Strong technical understanding and enjoyment of operating, maintaining, and optimizing state-of-the-art equipment.
  • Willingness to work in shifts (early and late).
  • Team-oriented and communicative working style within process teams and shop floor management.
  • Ability and enjoyment of self-organization.
  • High awareness of safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
  • Enthusiasm for building something new or continuously improving existing processes.
  • Very good German (B2+) and good English skills (B1+) are a must.
  • Category B driving license.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Forklift license is a plus.
  • First aid training is a plus.
