Field Service Project Engineer
Overview & Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Supervisor, Project Engineering - EMA and in close cooperation with the Regional Field Service Manager, the Contract Administration team, the Site Project Manager, and the Service Sales Engineers, the Field Service Project Engineer coordinates the administrative, contractual, technical, and commercial aspects of field service projects, from inquiry to final billing and collection.
Activities require a wide range of independent action and decision-making. Travel requirements are expected to be 25%.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management and Coordination
- Receive and review inquiries.
- Perform site surveys to estimate labor and material resources required for project completion and prepare detailed cost make-ups.
- Prepare and issue proposals, including workscope, PERT chart, GANTT chart, and labor histogram for Field Service projects.
- Assist Service Sales in the selling effort.
- Conduct internal order coordination meetings with dispatching, support engineering, and finance.
- Mobilize labor and material resources for Field Service projects, including coordination and scheduling of subcontractors.
- Monitor purchasing and coordination of subcontractors and goods.
- Track revenue and cost generated by extra work.
- Perform internal project management using provided tools.
- Promote safety in all work to prevent injury to personnel and equipment.
- Assist in planning and technical detailing for projects to establish work requirements and promote the sale of additional parts, upgrades, repairs, and field service.
- Initiate technical and commercial debriefings with key stakeholders upon project completion, establish lessons learned, and initiate continuous improvement actions.
- Attend project close-out or lessons learned meetings with customers.
Administrative and Financial Oversight
- Receive, review, resolve, and acknowledge orders.
- Assist in establishing quality and documentation requirements for projects in line with ISO 9001 Quality System.
- Assist finance and Contract Administration with invoicing (both in-process and final).
- Assist in the collection of money owed when necessary.
- Flag progress billing due dates.
- Finalize project cost and margin.
Customer and Sales Support
- Make courtesy visits with Sales to promote the sale of new Field Service.
- Keep key stakeholders promptly and thoroughly informed on all work performed, quality, performance, equipment problems, and customer reactions.
- Keep Aftermarket Sales personnel informed on all immediate and future sales potential.
- Contribute new ideas to enhance company service and eliminate troubles.
- Provide assistance on rotating equipment training programs.
- Support all department activities as directed by Field Service Operations management.
- Provide feedback to applicable departments to promote the sale of parts, upgrades, repairs, and field service.
- Assist in other areas as required or requested.
Key Skills and Requirements
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
- Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, preferably in field service or a related industry.
Experience with ISO 9001 Quality System and project management tools (PERT, GANTT charts).
- Technical Skills : Proficiency in project management software and tools.Strong understanding of contractual, commercial, and technical aspects of projects.
- Administrative Skills : Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.Excellent documentation and report preparation skills.
- Financial Acumen : Ability to prepare detailed cost make-ups and track project revenue and expenses.Experience in billing, invoicing, and collection processes.
- Interpersonal Skills : Excellent communication and coordination skills.Ability to work collaboratively with various departments and stakeholders.
