Postdoctoral Researcher for the Development of Superconducting Parametric Amplifier Technology
Job description
During the project, the successful candidates will be at the forefront of experimental research, both independently and as members of our research teams.
You will be part of an international team working on quantum devices both at ETH Zürich and EPFL. Each position is initially limited to a term of eighteen months, with potential for extension.
All three new team members will contribute to regular team meetings to report on project progress. Specifically, their responsibilities will include :
- Simulation of parametric amplifier circuits using nonlinear optics techniques and harmonic balance, for example.
- Design a new generation of devices using and refining our already existing python-based design packages.
- Conducting advanced microwave measurements in state-of-the-art cryogenic setups assessing the gain profile and the quantum-limited noise performance of the amplifiers.
Your research will benefit from the comprehensive infrastructure, expertise, and collaborative network available within our research groups.
Profile
We are seeking candidates with a strong interest in quantum technology based on superconducting quantum circuits. Proficiency in English, in reading, writing and discussing scientific material is essential, along with strong teamwork and excellent communication skills.
- PhD in physics, quantum engineering, or electrical engineering, ideally with a focus on superconducting nonlinear devices
- Extensive experience in simulating electrical circuits and devices
- Strong general research skills with the ability to conduct independent research
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and with industry partners
- Demonstrated initiative, results-oriented mindset, organizational skills, and creativity
- Proficiency in Python programming
