Research/Writer (Educational Tech Content) Volunteer

Volunteering role :

• This is a volunteer role
• Time commitment : 5 - 9 hrs / week
• Location : remote working

Purpose

We are creating a platform that facilitates diverse content related to tech skills and career development in tech. The audience are individuals working in IT (at different experience levels) and career transitioners to the tech sector (usually from other STEM areas).

The Research & Writer Volunteer who is passionate in both technology and diversity, will digest tech topics, to create educational and engaging written blog articles following women++’s strategy.

As part of the women++ team, your ideas and development are key! Get to know the whole team and start discussing interesting topics around diversity & inclusion.

Tasks

What you will be doing

You will be researching, structuring and writing educational tech blog articles for our new blog project.

How your role will develop during your six months of volunteering

Within three months :

• Meet with other research / writers, content editor and strategy team for alignment and onboarding to the new women++ blog strategy and content plan.
• Research technology-related topics within the Swiss sector to produce written informative articles to educate our audience.
• Work closely with women++’s content editor to optimize your article after proofreading and feedback.
• Conduct keyword research and use SEO guidelines to optimize content.
• Finalize a minimum of 2 articles per month, which will be scheduled in our blog calendar for go-live, following the blog’s strategy.

Within six months :

• Finalize your introduction phase, and will be presented to the women++ community as part of the team.
• Propose new and improved outreach ideas.

Requirements

First of all : We believe in maximizing potential through training, learning and attitude. So, even if you think you don’t have all the relevant experience, but are interested in social media marketing, you may still be the perfect person for this role.

Overall, we look for :

• Ability to research and interpret : Be able to research and critically evaluate information relating to technology and tech skills and structure it for educational purposes.
• Story telling : Be able to turn your research into accessible, captivating articles, snippets, guidelines etc.
• Passion for tech related topics
• Strong communication skills (written and oral) in English. German is a plus.
• Ownership mentality, proactivity, reliability
