Overview of the Director of Finance role

Smarttech247 is a multi-award-winning provider of AI-enhanced cybersecurity services providing automated managed detection and response for a portfolio of international clients. This is a fast-growing sector with an international footprint. The Group is based in Cork / Ireland with additional operations in Romania, Poland and Northern Ireland. The Company is also listed on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange and is well funded for future growth.

The Director of Finance will be responsible for all the financial and management accounting at the Group. They will also be responsible for directly managing the Group’s internal finance team, which currently includes three employees based in Cork and having an overview of the finance operations in Romania, Poland and the UK which are currently outsourced.

The Director of Finance will work with the executives and directors of the business to create budgets and forecasts and reports on results and performance. They will also ensure that the appropriate policies are in place along with the necessary financial controls commensurate for a business of this type. The role is fast-paced and multi-faceted and requires someone with an analytical and strategic mindset. The Director of Finance will report to the CEO and indirectly to the Board.

Candidate skills and experience

A qualified accountant with senior level accountancy and managerial experience and ideally, a knowledge of the industry.
Needs to be able to operate within a multi-country and currency environment across a number of operational locations. Smarttech247 is listed on the AIM market of the London Stock exchange and so, ideally, they should also have experience of working within a listed company environment and be familiar with specific listed requirements

For example, disclosure requirements and be able to operate to timetables required as a consequence of being a listed company. This would also include dealing and liaising with various professional advisers.

Would need to have a clear understanding of the Group’s financial and management information requirements and be able to implement the appropriate systems in order manage these requirements.

Technically, would also need to be able to prepare group consolidations under IFRS and be able to develop necessary processes and procedures and improve the financial control environment.

Needs to be able to prepare both interim and full year financial reports for publication by the Group and must have experience of dealing and liaising with the Group’s auditors as part of the year end audit process.

Must have experience in managing a small team and ideally be familiar with Sage Cloud which is the Group’s current accounting system.

Ideally, they should be based in Cork, Ireland or at least have an ability to travel there on a regular basis.
