About the role
As the Respiratory Global Innovation Lead, you will be responsible to design and deliver the global innovation pipeline for the Respiratory category, feeding our four global power brands (Otrivin, Theraflu, Panadol C&F and Advil C&F) with breakthrough innovation that is consumer preferred, expert recommended, value-accretive and globally scalable.
We have recently aligned a new Global Respiratory Strategy reflecting a greater growth ambition to reinforce and future-proof our global leadership position.
Innovation is a critical building block for us to realise this for which we will be re-structuring and strengthening our global marketing team to maximise our pipeline outputs.
This is a critical leadership role with high visibility and direct impact to the business. We are looking for an experienced and talented marketer on upstream innovation who has great leadership skills, ability to sort through complexity and manage stakeholders being fully accountable for the category innovation metrics.
This role reports into the Respiratory GBL (Respiratory Global Business Lead) and manages a team of two direct reports (Global Marketing Managers) and 3-4 indirect reports.
You will be tasked with the articulation of the category innovation strategies, definition of big bets, recommendation of investment priorities across platforms, ideation, concept development, projects management through milestones, all partnering effectively with BUs to ensure an efficient use of company resources and execute with excellence in market.
Key responsibilities
- Define and recommend innovation strategies to GBL in support to the category growth plan
- Lead upstream innovation serving all strategic partitions.
- Deliver Respiratory pipeline as per innovation sales targets, securing on-time delivery across critical milestones. This includes managing day-to-day project challenges arising from those Marketing Directors who report into the GBL.
- Lead Business Continuity Plans and Value Engineering required to hit global growth targets
- Support BUs in driving in-market success of innovation and ideation / delivery of their Simple Innovation
- Coach, develop and build capability on direct and indirect reports to achieve industry BIC innovation delivery
Qualifications and experience required
Senior Marketing Director (>
15y of experience) with a proven track record in designing and delivering global innovation in complex and fragmented environments like Respiratory.
- Excellent consumer understanding, including market research and segmentation techniques.
- Strong foundational marketing skills : concepts development, agency leadership from brief to final assets execution; consumer, customer and expert story telling; design experience.
Essential skills
- Creativity and pragmatism in finding cost-efficient solutions, mitigate risks and remediate issues associated to fragmented and complex regulatory environments and supply networks
- Effective communication and stakeholders’ management, being able to articulate complex realities with clarity and simplicity that enables the right decision making.
- Strong people management skills, multifunctional leadership of technical functions (R&D; MA; RA; QSC; Clinical) and partnerships with BUs and external suppliers.
- Strategic and operational discipline when dealing with arising opportunities.
- Emotional intelligence, ability to resolve conflicts constructively and manage stress.
Preferred skills
- Experience in local business / BUs with deep understanding of local operational realities.
- Understanding of Respiratory regulatory environment and OTC medical fundamentals.
- Demonstrated ability and commitment towards social and environmental sustainability goals when it comes to innovation.
