Mechanical Design Engineer (Power Conversion)

For our office in Geneva, we are currently looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer (Power Conversion).

Mission & main tasks :

• Being responsible for the mechanical design of power converters, working as part of an engineering team developing systems in the range of 1-10 MW.
• Participate on the Product Development and R&D activities among multiple product categories.
• Designing liquid and forced air cooled power stacks, enclosures, subassemblies, custom components for power converters with a special focus on industrialization and cost efficiency.
• Generate manufacturing and assembly drawings and bill of materials and maintain product data in our electronic document management system and ERP.
• Get involved with the sales department through the analysis of needs for prospecting projects, giving time and material cost estimates for development or project execution activities.
• Collaborate on the supplier qualification activities, working closely with the purchasing department in their interactions with distributors.
• Give assistance in the preparation and execution of validation tests for prototypes, including isolation and dielectric strength, IP levels, and thermal management.
• Participate on the industrialization of new products and maintenance of existing ones by supporting the production department.
• Cooperate closely with the company Development Team in Madrid and Production Center in Prague.

Requirements

• Mechanical Engineering studies such as University Degree or Higher Technical Diploma.
• Minimum 3 years of experience on the Power Conversion field within at least 5 years of experience in general mechanical engineering background.
• Excellent english communication skills, French or Spanish is a plus.
• Extensive knowledge and demonstrated experience in 3D CAD design tools (SolidWorks, Catia, Solid Edge, Autodesk Inventor ).
• Experience on the mechanical design for medium size power converters, battery storage and cooling systems in the range of 1-10 MW.
• Design of power stacks, metal sheet, cabinet profiles and copper / aluminum busbars.
• Knowledge on electrical insulation devices and techniques.
• Availability to travel up to 10%.
• Liquid and forced air cooling of power converters.
• Design for outdoor application (high IP and containers).
• Electrical knowledge of power conversion principles and devices (IGBTs, diode rectifiers, thyristor...).
• Knowledge on mechanical and thermal stress calculations and simulations.
• Familiarity with power converters related standards and norms, as IEC61439 and IEC62477.
