Patent Engineer

As an Patent Engineer / IP Business Partner you will take part in patent creation, patent prosecution, competitive intelligence, portfolio management and the product development process.
More specifically, you will :
Patent Creation :
Provide support to the inventor in the invention disclosure process and manage the patent drafting and filing process with the outside attorney to assure high quality patent filing
Patent Prosecution :
Assure proper handling of all stages of the patent prosecution process for national filing decisions, annuities decision, office actions and oppositions.
Competitive Intelligence :
Conduct continuous monitoring of the external patent landscape and technology trends in close cooperation with BU stakeholders, identify and assess threats and opportunities and initiate appropriate legal action if needed.
- Portfolio Management :
- Translate product and product line strategies into patent strategies aiming to identify technologies and applications to protect and take adapted IP rights protection initiatives;
Develop and manage the patent portfolios for respective product lines including the evaluation of existing patents and the identification of threats and opportunities.
Product Development Process :
Lead the IP specific actions related to the different IP gates in the product development process.
Your profile
- Experience in generating, analyzing, defending or managing IP rights is a strong advantage.
- You possess excellent verbal and written level in English and are able to negotiate / moderate frequently opposing interests in an elegant way.
- Occasionally travel to other Melexis sites
