Microcaps is an ETH Zurich spin-off founded in March 2019. Our unique technology allows us to produce highly precise and innovative microcapsules that empower materials to unlock new capabilities, all tailored to various markets from cosmetics to nutraceutical and pharma.

Today, Microcaps technology can be found in a cosmetic skin serum and a vegan caviar. As we progress, our aim is to expand our production capacity and introduce a visionary and sustainable water-based fine fragrance.

To strengthen our team in Zurich-Schlieren we are recruiting a

Laboratory Technician (m / w), 100%

The main interest of our customers quite naturally lies with the capsule formulations which makes the formulations team a main value driver of Microcaps.

As Laboratory Technician, you will be on the frontline of our internal development efforts, ranging from developing new capsule formulations and strengthening our capsule portfolio as well as innovating capsule solutions for our clients.

Working with different capsule systems and active ingredients in Microcaps’ main segments; cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, nutrition, and probiotics as well as well as driving projects from proof of concept to large scale production is the main task of the team.

Tasks

• You will support Microcaps’ internal formulation efforts, together with Microcaps’ Formulations Team following Microcaps’ values and strategy.
• You will plan and execute internal formulation projects in collaboration with Formulation Scientists and ensure a timely completion as well as authoring and reviewing technical documentation.
• You will conduct research to support the formulation efforts for both, internal as well as external, projects.
• You will help increasing Microcaps’ patent portfolio on formulation and / or processes.
• You will maintain an effective communication within areas of responsibilities as well as supporting the team in establishing a successful work environment and processes.

Requirements

• You have accomplished an apprenticeship as Lab Technician or a higher education degree with experience in chemistry, food technology, bioscience engineering or similar disciplines.
• You are excited about and have experience in developing and manufacturing products in an industrial environment, ideally in the cosmetics area.
• You are keen to work on all aspects of a project from A-Z, from first proof-of concept basis over first production lines towards a finished, industrial product.
• You have experience in safe handling of chemicals, potentially dangerous materials and equipment.
• You enjoy working in a dynamic and flexible team environment as well as showing initiative and the ability to produce accurate and timely work.
• Possess a work permit in Switzerland.
• Fluent in English (compulsory) and German (preferred)
