Senior Legal Counsel: Environment, Social & Governance (ESG)
How will you make an impact? HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?
This is a fast-moving area with a volume of new work constantly creating the need for reprioritisation of resources and managing stakeholders across the Group and its Maisons.
It also requires a great deal of commitment to keeping up to date with new laws and regulations.
You will have the key responsibility to
- Monitoring of laws and regulations Maintaining an efficient monitoring of the relevant laws and regulations for the topics listed above, to verify that all business components effectively identify and address all relevant legal and regulatory risks, with a focus on Swiss, EU, Italian and German jurisdictions, and sharing the findings with the relevant stakeholders.
- Development of Policies & Procedures Supporting the relevant functions on the development and implementation of ESG-related policies & procedures, including, for example, supporting on the implementation / updates of supplier due diligence policies and procedures, including Supplier code of Conduct.
- Transparency Framework Supporting Group Sustainability on the implementation of guidelines for transparency on ESG matters and providing reactive support in respect of any issues arising out of ESG-related promotional activity and product claims.
- Sustainability Reporting & Audits Supporting Group Sustainability on any legal and regulatory issues that arise out of the various non-financial reporting obligations of the Group, , RJC (Responsible Jewellery Council) or similar standards or bodies.
- Education & Outreach Working within the Group Legal function to educate Group & Maison stakeholders on the legal and regulatory issues related to the Group’s Sustainability strategy.
- Reporting to the Group Committees Inputting into the preparation of reports for the Governance & Sustainability Committee, Audit Committee and the Legal & Regulatory Compliance Committee on the Group’s ESG compliance strategy and implementation.
HOW WILL YOU EXPERIENCE SUCCESS WITH US?
- 7+ years of work experience in a similar role (business legal function) ideally in-house or within a firm supporting international clients on ESG matters.
- Prior experience in the luxury sector including watchmaking, jewellery or fashion a plus.
- Bachelor / Master’s or any other academic degree in business-related disciplines, ESG / human rights and / or law.
- Fluent in French and English; German is a plus
- Strong communication and facilitating skills, and excellent written skills, including the ability to communicate complex legal issues in simple terms.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to identify and resolve legal issues quickly and effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of an overall larger team.
