About the role

As the EHS and Compliance Lead, you will be responsible to Lead Switzerland’s EHS activities as well as Nyon campus EHS & Engineering compliance.

Key responsibilities

  • Leading the EHS & Compliance team to meet regulatory and EHS & Engineering Global standards’ requirements to prevent any incidents / accidents and to ensure Global standards are in place / in use.
  • Monitoring current and potential environment, safety and health risks.
  • Being “shopfloor oriented”, proposing mitigation actions / programs, analysing key trends, defining priorities and proposing measures to improve EHS & Engineering compliance performance at country and site level.
  • Owning the EHS program for offices-based employees in the country (workplace risk assessment, Global standards’ assessment and CAPA)
  • Owning the EHS audit program at Site and hosting audits conducted by corporate functions, regulatory enforcement authorities or EHS management systems accreditation / certification bodies.
  • Executing Duty holding roles and building capabilities within the Subject Matter Experts and the doted lines safety champions across the campus.
  • Leading, testing and improving site crisis management and business continuity programs
  • Managing Occupational Health Management Services
  • Designing and managing Site Wellbeing initiatives and programs in partnership with HR

Qualifications and experience required

  • Science / Engineering degree with ideally an STPS certification
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in EHS and risk management. Preferable this is in pharmaceutical manufacturing or chemical manufacturing. Must have experience of dealing with a complex regulatory framework and multiple regulatory bodies
  • Senior stakeholders’ management at a country level and at a Global level
  • Understand chemical properties, manufacturing techniques, be able to assess what can go wrong and formulate strategies and solutions to prevent this from happening
  • Have a level of education that allows strategic understanding and the ability to influence others across the company in line with Global commitments.
  • Deliver Supply Chain EHS strategy of Zero Accidents, Zero Waste and Zero Defects in the context of a high hazard site under Swiss regulations and Global Standards
  • Lead a high performing team and drive a culture of Zero Accidents, Zero Waste and Zero Defects within a manufacturing environment.
  • Influence key stakeholders both internal (across multiple businesses and locations) and external
  • Secure resources to ensure effective risk management
  • Preferred skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of EHS Legislation, Industry codes of practice and company’s standards
  • Skilled in problem solving and decision making - deal with complex and difficult problems and issues in a logical manner and provide clear directions.
  • Strong influencing skills at all levels, including ability to use business understanding to influence senior management decisions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • English and French language skills
  • Systematic and process-oriented approach to work
  • To act as a Duty Holder for the high risk nominated : High risk Duty holder management for Process Safety, Chemical Agents, Construction Safety, Machinery Safety, Electrical Safety.
