JOB PURPOSE

MSC IT department is seeking an experienced Data Governance Manager to become a part of a dynamic and collaborative work environment, where we always go the extra mile to uphold outstanding customer experience for our cruise guests.

The Data Governance Manager will lead the definition and deployment of the Company Data Governance framework together with the business and technology representatives in order to ensure data quality, integrity, availability and timeliness.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Devise and roll out the Data Governance Framework.
  • Coordinate with company’s departments and functions to deploy data owners and data stewards’ roles for critical data.
  • Design and deploy consistent Data Management processes and controls across systems to ensure data quality and data integrity.
  • Design and deploy the Data Quality Framework along with the tooling to monitor critical data, starting with Master Data.
  • Launch and lead delivery of Data Quality assessment initiatives with Business to support strategic data projects.
  • Support business teams on data quality monitoring and cleansing.
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of data source of truth to ensure consistent data documentation and lineage of available assets.
  • Implement data governance strategy, controls, and capabilities including data catalog, metadata management, data quality certification, data quality metrics, reference data management, data domain hierarchy and taxonomy management, reporting and analytics governance, data classification and tagging, data architecture, and data modeling.
  • Metadata analysis and definition for accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Update and adapt Data Governance policies according to business needs, regulations and technologies.
  • Assist in evaluating, configuring and managing privacy compliance technology, as well as capturing, maintaining and analyzing compliance data.
  • Define performance indicators and quality measures to ensure alignment with standards and roles and responsibilities.
  • Identify new opportunities related to Data Quality to facilitate business initiatives.
  • Promote the data governance culture, master data and data quality representatives in all the organization, coaching peers / subordinates on importance of data and drive a data driven organizational culture.

QUALIFICATIONS (skills, competencies, experience)

  • An expert in Data Governance and / or Data Quality and / or Master Data Management including industry best practices, using data tools and technology, strategic project development and implementation planning skills.
  • Degree in Computer Science, IT / IT management, or a comparable qualification in a technology or engineering discipline.
  • At least 10 years of proven data governance / data management experience or in similar position.
  • A strong knowledge of Data Quality and Data Governance framework.
  • Understanding the importance of a solid Data Quality Framework and the criticality and impact on business processes.
  • A self-starter, who is able to operate in a fast-past changing environment who possesses an ability to see a big picture , but also of stepping into operational details when required.
  • Strong communication skills, the capacity to build relationships at a senior level as well as the ability to handle complex situations and meet challenging deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Broad and deep understanding of data systems (e.g., industry platforms, data tools, portals, workflow, automation), digital savvy, and experienced in surfacing technological / digital solutions to solve business issues.
  • Demonstrable experience leading, developing, and motivating professional level staff.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
