Associate Director/ Director DMPK Project Leader
About us
Serac is seeking an experienced DMPK scientist to provide strategic and scientific leadership across its targeted protein degrader portfolio. The successful candidate will lead the design, execution and interpretation of DMPK and translational pharmacology studies supporting discovery and preclinical research programs through candidate selection.
Working closely with medicinal chemists, biologists and pharmacologists, the DMPK Lead will develop and implement innovative strategies to optimize the absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and pharmacokinetic properties of novel degrader molecules. The role will be instrumental in translating pharmacological hypotheses into differentiated development candidates and establishing exposure-response relationships linking systemic exposure, target degradation and efficacy.
The position offers a unique opportunity to help shape the DMPK function of an emerging biotechnology company focused on next-generation targeted protein degradation therapeutics.
Responsibilities
- Provide scientific leadership for DMPK activities on multidisciplinary drug discovery teams across Serac's protein degrader portfolio.
- Identify key DMPK liabilities and develop mitigation strategies and guide optimization of ADME properties from lead identification to candidate selection.
- Drive program progression decisions through integration of DMPK, pharmacology, efficacy and safety data.
- Design, oversee, interpret and report in vitro and in vivo ADME, PK, PK/PD studies and toxicokinetic studies.
- Develop translational PK/PD strategies linking exposure, target degradation, biomarkers and efficacy endpoints.
- Apply PK/PD, PBPK modeling and quantitative approaches to guide compound optimization, understanding drivers of efficacy and safety.
- Develop human PK/PD projections to support clinical candidate selection.
- Select and manage CROs and external scientific collaborators.
- Maintain awareness of emerging DMPK and protein degrader technologies and best practices.
- Contribute to IND-enabling DMPK packages, regulatory documentation and regulatory interactions.
Qualifications
- PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Drug Metabolism, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacology or related discipline.
- 5+ years of industrial drug discovery experience in DMPK in the fields of small molecules and protein degraders.
- Experience functioning as DMPK project leader within multidisciplinary teams.
- Track record of influencing compound design and project decisions through DMPK insights and contributing to candidate nomination and IND-enabling packages.
- Expertise in PK/PD, translational and PBPK modeling approaches.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
