You will also provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers within the backend team. /p pYour key responsibilities include: /p ul liDesign, implement and maintain backend services in Java (Spring) and/or Python /li liDevelop and integrate REST APIs and asynchronous interfaces towards partner systems, external nodes and front-end applications /li liImplement components for secure data handling, access control and auditability /li liContribute to end-to-end monitoring and operability features of the system /li liSupport integration with existing external systems and their interface updates /li liWrite unit and integration tests and support formal verification and validation activities /li liPackage and deploy services using Docker and Kubernetes in cloud-based environments /li liParticipate in design discussions, code reviews and agile development ceremonies /li liProduce and maintain technical documentation under configuration control /li /ul h3Essential qualifications and experience /h3 ul liUniversity degree or equivalent education in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline /li liSeveral years of professional experience developing backend systems in Java (Spring) and/or Python /li liSolid experience designing and consuming REST APIs /li liExperience with relational databases and data modelling /li liHands‑on experience with Docker; familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud platforms /li liProficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows (e.g. GitLab) /li liFocus on writing modular, testable and maintainable code /li liExperience with backend testing frameworks and automated testing (e.g. JUnit, pytest) /li liAbility to work independently and as part of a team /li liStrong prioritization and time‑management skills /li liFluent in the English language /li /ul h3Other desirable qualifications and experience /h3 ul liExperience integrating heterogeneous systems and updating existing external interfaces /li liKnowledge of security mechanisms such as OAuth2/OIDC, TLS and encryption of data at rest and in transit /li liExperience with message brokers and event‑driven architectures /li liBackground in the space ground segment domain or other mission‑critical systems /li liExperience with monitoring and observability stacks (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana) /li liGerman or French language skills /li /ul h3Work Location /h3 pThis is a hybrid role based in Basel, Switzerland, combining regular on‑site collaboration with the flexibility to work remotely part of the week. /p /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
