StellenbeschreibungpThe Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) is an international expert organisation based in Switzerland. /ppThe GICHD works to reduce the impact of mines, cluster munitions and other explosive remnants of war, in close partnership with mine action organisations and other human security actors. To do so, the GICHD supports national authorities, international and regional organisations and NGOs in their efforts to improve the relevance, performance and sustainability of mine action. Our advisors visit approximately 50 countries each year and offer remote support, enabling them to tackle explosive hazard contamination safely, effectively and efficiently. By bringing together experts and practitioners, gathering and sharing knowledge, the GICHD acts as a central reference point in mine action. We promote dialogue between mine-affected countries in local languages, fostering regional cooperation. This work is not just an end in itself but also contributes to the broader objective of human security – freedom from fear and freedom from want. This effort is facilitated by the GICHD's location within the Maison de la Paix in Geneva /ppThe Centre's work is made possible by core contributions, project funding and in-kind support from 30 governments and organisations. /ppstrongJob purpose /strong /pp The Finance Apprentice supports the Finance Unit in delivering accurate and compliant financial operations while gaining practical experience in accounting, financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and finance projects within an international organization. /pp strong Key responsibilities /strong /pulliReview staff expenses, supplier invoices, petty cash, and credit card reports for accuracy and compliance. /liliEnter and maintain financial data in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. /liliSupport accounting activities, including accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger follow-up. /liliAssist with payment processing and petty cash management. /liliSupport the preparation of financial reports, analyses, and management dashboards. /liliContribute to budget monitoring and variance analysis. /liliAssist with audit preparation and financial documentation. /liliParticipate in finance projects, process improvements, and reporting enhancements. /liliRespond to finance-related queries and provide administrative support to the Finance Unit. /liliUndertake other finance-related tasks as required. /li /ulpstrongQualifications and professional experience /strong /pulliCurrently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. /liliPrevious internship or student work experience in finance is an asset /li /ulpstrongKnowledge, skills, and abilities /strong /pulliStrong interest in finance, accounting, and financial analysis. /liliGood analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail. /liliAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and good command of Microsoft Office applications. /liliFamiliarity with ERP systems; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an advantage. /liliProactive, eager to learn, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. /liliExcellent command of English; French is an asset. /li /ulpstrongOperating network /strong /pulliExternal Auditors /liliSuppliers Banks /liliInternal stakeholders /li /ul
