Career Renew is recruiting for one of its clients a Technical Affairs Advisor in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Technical Affairs Advisor supports our global advocacy work. Enabling road transport operators to conduct sustainable and profitable operations, the incumbent will play an important role in leading our outreach on technical affairs while developing trust-based relationships with government officials, politicians, industry representatives and other third-party stakeholders.

Reports to : Senior Advisor, Global Advocacy Partnership

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Senior Advisor Global Advocacy on road freight transport policy and legislative work with a special focus on technical affairs
  • Identify policy trends on technical and also safety, environmental and dangerous goods regulation, set priorities and contribute to the development of effective strategies enabling sustainable operations for transport operators
  • Assume the Secretariat function for the Commission on technical affairs (CIT) which includes the organisation of related meetings, development and implementation of the CIT annual working programme and the dissemination of relevant technical and legislative information to members
  • Develop background papers and observations papers on technical matters
  • Build strong alliances with third party stakeholders including the UNECE, vehicle manufacturers, OEMs and large transport operators
  • Participate in the work of UNECE, specifically Working Party 29, Working Party 15 and Working Party 1 and related sub-groups, provide related analysis and policy recommendation
  • Support our global campaigns with expertise
  • Create technical competence, including scientific and technical input to develop our Intelligence Platform and market intelligence
  • Support our business lines in building knowledge and capacity on technical matters.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in engineering (or related field) with in depth knowledge in technical affairs of heavy commercial vehicles
  • At least 5 years’ work experience with a vehicle manufacture, OEM or a trade / transport association being responsible for technical affairs
  • Good understanding of technical regulations related to heavy commercial vehicles
  • Work experience with the United Nations is a plus
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Ability to develop trust-based relationships
  • Analytical, problem solving and project management skills
  • Influence & inspire internal & external stakeholders
  • Positive, motivated, agile and prepared to adapt to change with short notice
  • Drive for results and proven organisational skills
  • Excellent English, both orally and written - knowledge of another language is desirable
