About the team you are joining IATA is the trade association for the world’s airlines, representing over 320 airlines across 120 countries. Our members comprise 83% of total air traffic. IATA’s mission is to represent, lead, and serve the airline industry. You will join IATA’s Corporate Taxation department which is one of six departments under the Corporate Services Division reporting to the CFO. The team will be growing to five and made up of three people in Geneva and two in Montreal. You will be based in Geneva, reporting to IATA’s Assistant Director, Corporate Taxation. The Corporate Tax department is responsible for IATA’s direct and indirect tax planning and compliance worldwide. This includes providing support to all of IATA’s lines of business to ensure IATA’s global advocacy, products, and services are delivered in accordance with IATA’s NPO status, while ensuring IATA complies with all tax filing obligations. The Corporate Tax team enables tax-effective business decisions, defends IATA’s tax positions and tax status worldwide, and is responsible for all tax reporting and compliance. What your day would be like Join our Corporate Services division as we embark on a continuous improvement and digital transformation journey. The ambition of Corporate Services is to be the trusted proactive partner providing data-driven corporate services for the business, while upholding the highest fiduciary standards. You will interact daily with colleagues from other Corporate Services teams and with IATA business teams worldwide in the following areas : 1) Advice to the Business and Optimizing the tax treatment of IATA Activities Participate in the management of IATA’s tax residency certificates and forms that minimize the tax implications of IATA’s global activities. Submit applications with the relevant tax administrations and arrange for notarization, storage, and making the certificates available to IATA customers, product managers, and Customer Service representatives. Prepare country-specific forms that customers require to grant tax treaty benefits, and maintain the relevant forms / data on IATA share point and extranet. Conduct annual campaigns with US customers to obtain their Sales Tax exemption certificates and maintain them in IATA’s US sales tax tool (Vertex). Provide IATA product managers, customers, vendors, banks, and other partners with documentation related to IATA tax registrations worldwide, tax clearance, and tax exemption forms. Support the Director Taxation and Assistant Director Taxation with providing advice to the business that will optimize the tax treatment of, for example, IATA Events in new markets, expansion of IATA training centers, and opening new office locations. 2) Tax Reporting and Compliance Perform administrator tasks for IATA’s tax returns repository tool (Riskonnect). Work with regional finance teams and the external advisors to ensure that all IATA tax filing obligations worldwide are maintained in Riskonnect, and the due dates are regularly updated based on external advisors’ feedback. Align with the Corporate Secretary to ensure corporate registration changes are updated and regularly maintain IATA entities’ information relevant for tax filing. Arrange for user access, create customized reports and dashboards, and test all enhancements. Tax Technology and Data Management Assist with User Acceptance Testing for tax-related SAP functions, Vertex, the IATA Online Store, and other IATA billing systems. Help to advise business users on invoicing matters, and assist with corrections for blocked invoices for sales transactions. Assist with monthly checks of sales invoices issued from billing systems not interfaced with SAP, to facilitate timely VAT accounting and reporting. Assist with the routine verification of customers’ and vendors’ tax registration numbers and arrange for master data update where necessary. Prepare and run the SAP reports to perform various tax controls. Support the Global Engagement with External Tax Advisors As a Procure-to-Pay specialist, assist with the acquisition of tax compliance and tax advisory services worldwide, including raising contracts and ‘vendor master’ creation in SAP, monitor the work completion, perform invoice reconciliation, and payment instruction. Co-ordinate IATA-Legal review of engagement letters in accordance with IATA procedures. Prepare and update the tracking files to report tax compliance and consulting fees for budget and year-end accrual processes. Interest in Tax and VAT principles and tax planning for international businesses. Strong interpersonal skills.
