Imagine being the reason 60 million young people learn how to become ready for life. That's what , the world's leading education movement, makes possible. And the funding behind it might be yours to grow.
The is hiring a
Manager, Institutional & Corporate Giving,
80–100%, permanent, Thun.
What does it take?
A natural relationship builder who thinks in partnerships, not transactions. Someone who knows how to find the right institutions and corporations, earn their trust, and show them why investing in Scouting is investing in their own mission. Someone who knows that the best partnerships are built face to face and maintained long after the meeting ends.
If you instinctively thought “that’s me”, read on.
Through the World Scout Foundation (WSF), the fundraising engine behind World Scouting’s global mission, you will have the platform, network, and credibility to create global partnerships for the future of Scouting. With a USD 55 million endowment and dedicated resources for Scouting initiatives in 224 countries and territories, the infrastructure is in place. What’s needed is the right person to grow it.
As our Manager of Institutional & Corporate Giving, you will build and steward a growing portfolio of foundations, corporations, and sponsors to grow World Scouting’s numbers and impact.
This is a portfolio role, not a management one. You’ll work closely with our CEO and with the fundraising team of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), while collaborating with the Movement’s global leadership and network. And you’ll arrive at an inflection point: the WSF and WOSM have committed to building a joint global fundraising team in 2027, and you’ll help design it, shaping not only the partners we work with, but how we make the greatest impact as a Movement. Taking an active part in creating and being part of this joint team is a core requirement of the role, not an optional extra. As the joint model takes shape, the form, scope and even the name of this role may need to be adjusted, so you will need a genuine appetite for change and new direction.
If you’re ready to do the most meaningful work of your career, we’d like to meet you.
What success looks like
- By month 12: Contribute at least 10 new qualified leads to the joint pipeline, including new income of at least USD 0.5 million across the targeted segments; contribute to the design and implementation of the to-be-formed joint global team and fundraising strategy.
- By month 24: Secure USD 2–3.5 million in new income through funding agreements and/or partnerships; become an integral member of the wider fundraising team and contribute to shared goals and the future strategic vision beyond 2030.
You bring
- 6–8 years proven experience securing significant, multi-year funding from institutions, foundations, and/or corporate partners internationally.
- Experience designing and implementing multi-year resource mobilisation strategies aligned to the overarching strategic goals of a global organisation.
- Proven experience writing persuasive proposals, negotiating agreements, and managing grants through to funder reporting.
- Sound judgement on due diligence, reputation, and ethical fundraising, and credibility with executives, trustees and government or multilateral representatives.
- A university degree or equivalent experience; C2-level English, as this is our working language; German and/or French desirable.
- Swiss or EU/EFTA work authorisation (we cannot offer visa sponsorship).
- A genuine appetite for change and new direction: you are ready to help create the joint global fundraising team and comfortable that the form and name of this role may be adjusted as it takes shape; a flexible, can-do attitude aligned with the values of Scouting and our internal team structures.
The rhythm of the job
Existing and potential partners and funders, along with thematically relevant events, influence your regular work calendar. You can expect around eight international trips and around 10 evening, weekend, or public holiday engagements a year, compensated in line with Swiss law and your contract. You will ideally be based in Thun, with up to three homeoffice days per week by agreement.
What we offer
- Competitive employment conditions, to be agreed with the CEO.
- Direct access to the CEO and Board of the Foundation to leverage connections and open doors.
- The chance to build upon a growing, global portfolio of partners and donors as part of an integrated approach, joint pipeline, and partner network of WSF and WOSM.
- Access to state-of-the-art research and due diligence software (Altrata).
- The chance to shape this newly focused role with the team and our WOSM colleagues under a newly designed joint fundraising model for the global Scouting Movement.
