Linux Engineer

h3Role Purpose /h3 pThe Linux Engineer will design, implement, secure and support enterprise Linux platforms. The role will contribute to platform reliability, automation, lifecycle management and the modernisation of infrastructure services. /p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ul liBuild, configure and maintain enterprise Linux servers and platforms. /li liManage operating system upgrades, patching, hardening and lifecycle activities. /li liImplement security baselines, identity controls and configuration standards. /li liSupport high availability, resilience, backup and recovery requirements. /li liDevelop scripts and automation to improve provisioning and operational efficiency. /li liContribute to Infrastructure as Code initiatives and CI/CD integration. /li liSupport containerised platforms and Kubernetes-based services where required. /li liMonitor system performance, availability, capacity and security events. /li liParticipate in incident, problem and change management processes. /li liInvestigate complex technical issues and conduct root cause analysis. /li liMaintain technical documentation and operational procedures. /li liCollaborate with application, database, network, security and cloud engineering teams. /li /ul h3Skills and Experience /h3 ul liStrong hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux environments, particularly Red Hat. /li liKnowledge of Linux installation, configuration, troubleshooting and performance tuning. /li liExperience with shell scripting and automation, particularly Ansible Automation Platform. /li liUnderstanding of networking, storage, authentication, certificates and system security. /li liFamiliarity with virtualisation, cloud platforms and container technologies. /li liKnowledge of Kubernetes and associated ecosystem tools would be advantageous. /li liExperience with monitoring, logging, event correlation and operational support. /li liUnderstanding of Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and Git workflows. /li liAbility to apply secure configuration baselines and support compliance requirements. /li liBachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience. /li liTypically six to ten years of relevant experience, or demonstrable expertise appropriate to the role. /li liExperience coordinating the work of others or contributing to technical projects is desirable. /li liStrong understanding of platform reliability, security, resilience and operational excellence. /li liExperience participating in incident, problem, change and lifecycle management. /li liAbility to document technical solutions and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. /li liCommitment to continuous learning, professional development and relevant industry accreditations. /li liA collaborative approach to engineering, with a focus on continuous improvement and automation. /li /ul #J-18808-Ljbffr
