About the role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Legal Counsel to oversee and drive our commercial contracting strategy, internal governance, privacy compliance, and legal risk management. In this role, you will serve as the company’s Data Protection Officer while managing a diverse portfolio of legal matters across Swiss domestic law and international frameworks.

Responsibilities

  1. Commercial Contracting

  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements (MSAs, SaaS, NDAs, partnership agreements, vendor contracts, MOUs) under Swiss law (Code of Obligations) and international legal frameworks.

2. Internal Governance & Policy Development

  • Design and update internal corporate regulations, codes of conduct, compliance frameworks, and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure high-quality standards aligned with best practices.

3. Data Protection Officer (DPO) Responsibilities

  • Oversee privacy compliance under the Swiss Data Protection Act (FADP/DSG) and EU GDPR.

  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), manage data subject requests, and liaise with regulatory authorities as designated DPO.

4. Employment Law Compliance

  • Draft and review employment contracts, non-compete agreements, and HR policies in accordance with Swiss law (Art. 319 et seq. CO, Swiss Labor Act).

  • Coordinate with external counsel on cross-border employment law matters.

5. Escalation & Mentorship

  • Serve as the escalation point for legal queries from direct reports and business line clients regarding regulatory issues, complex contract clauses, and risk management.

  • Lead process optimization initiatives and mentor team members.

6. Legal Risk Management

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial, privacy, employment, and regulatory risks across all business lines.

7. Process Efficiency & Automation

  • Optimize legal engagement workflows and standardize templates.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law (LL.B., LL.M., or MLaw)

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial contract negotiation, legal governance, or legal management

  • Proven expertise in data protection regulations (Swiss FADP/DSG and EU GDPR) to fulfill DPO role

  • Solid understanding of Swiss contract law (CO) and employment law regulations

  • Ability to manage high-impact priorities effectively

  • Strong command of English (written and spoken) with precise legal drafting capability

  • Strong attention to detail and sound business judgment

Bonus Points

  • Qualified to practice law (Bar Admission in Switzerland or another recognized jurisdiction)

  • Certified Data Protection Officer qualification (CIPP/E, CIPM, or equivalent)

  • Experience with foreign/international employment law or cross-border commercial transactions

  • Background in high-growth tech sectors
