As part of the development of our activities in the canton of Vaud, we are looking for a Senior Analog & Power Hardware Engineer (M/F).
Reporting to a technical manager, you will join a multidisciplinary R&D team involved in the development of advanced electronic products operating in highly demanding environments.
You will take ownership of complex hardware developments involving analog electronics, DC-DC converters, power-supply architectures and EMC/EMI constraints.
The products include compact, low-voltage electronic boards combining high-current capability, limited power consumption and stringent low-noise requirements.
Own the complete development lifecycle of complex analog and power electronic boards, from requirements definition through production readiness.
Define robust power-supply architectures including DC-DC converters, point-of-load regulators, filters, protections and power-distribution functions.
Design analog, mixed-signal and power electronic circuits.
Translate system requirements into electronic architectures and detailed hardware specifications.
Perform schematic design, component selection, calculations and electronic simulations.
Define PCB placement, routing, stack-up, grounding, power-distribution and thermal constraints.
Perform or support PCB design reviews with particular attention to power integrity, signal integrity, current density and EMC/EMI.
Develop compact, low-voltage boards capable of delivering significant current while maintaining stable and very low-noise performance.
Develop prototypes, proof-of-concepts and hardware validation platforms.
Lead board bring-up, debugging, characterization and design verification activities.
Define and execute validation and qualification plans.
Investigate hardware failures and perform root-cause analysis at component, board and system levels.
Resolve issues related to EMC/EMI, noise, ripple, stability, transient response, thermal behaviour and electrical robustness.
Conduct technical trade-off analyses and contribute to formal design reviews.
Ensure Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly and Design for Test considerations throughout the development process.
Support industrialization, supplier interactions and the transfer of electronic designs into production.
Ensure hardware maturity and production readiness.
Produce and maintain technical documentation, including design justifications, validation plans, test procedures, test reports and manufacturing documentation.
Collaborate closely with hardware, RF, system, software, mechanical, thermal and manufacturing teams.
You hold a Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics or a related field.
You have significant industrial experience in hardware development and a proven track record of taking complex electronic boards from initial requirements through architecture, detailed design, bring-up, validation and industrialization.
You combine strong technical expertise with the ability to take full ownership of a hardware development subject and coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
At least 8 years of industrial experience in electronic hardware development.
Strong experience in analog electronics and/or power electronics.
Proven experience designing complete electronic boards from architecture definition through validation.
Solid experience with DC-DC converters and power-supply design.
Experience defining power architectures including converters, point-of-load regulators, filters, protections and power-distribution functions.
Experience designing compact, low-voltage and high-current electronic boards.
Strong schematic design and component-selection skills.
Experience defining and reviewing PCB layouts.
Good understanding of grounding, shielding, return-current paths, decoupling, filtering and separation between power and sensitive analog signals.
Practical experience with EMC/EMI design, testing and troubleshooting.
Experience addressing noise, ripple, stability, transient response and thermal constraints.
Proven hands-on experience performing board bring-up, debugging, verification and qualification.
Ability to investigate hardware failures and identify root causes at component and board level.
Experience taking electronic products through industrialization or production readiness.
Experience preparing design justifications, validation plans and technical test reports.
Ability to independently lead a complex hardware development from requirements to production.
Hands-on laboratory experience using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, power analyzers, current probes and related equipment.
Strong documentation, communication and technical problem-solving skills.
Ability to work autonomously in a multidisciplinary and international environment.
Professional proficiency in English.
Swiss or EU-27 citizenship.
Availability to work fully on-site in the Lausanne area.
Experience in aerospace, airborne, automotive or another highly regulated industry.
Experience developing electronics for demanding thermal, vibration, reliability or electromagnetic environments.
Experience with mixed-signal or RF electronic systems.
Knowledge of power integrity and signal integrity methodologies.
Experience with PCB design tools, ideally Altium Designer.
Direct PCB layout experience.
Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly and Design for Test methodologies.
Experience working with manufacturing teams, PCB suppliers and electronic manufacturing services.
Experience supporting qualification and production ramp-up activities.
Knowledge of low-noise measurement techniques.
Experience with functional safety, reliability or component derating methodologies.
Fluent or professional English is mandatory.
