Junior Legal Counsel Commodity Trading

Job Description

• Support the General Counsel and legal team with the preparation, review, and negotiation of trading documentation for LNG, Power, and Gas transactions
• Provide clear and practical legal support to the trading business on day-to-day commercial transactions
• Draft, review, and negotiate a range of energy trading agreements, including sale and purchase agreements, transportation agreements, and other commercial contracts
• Assist the legal team in advising on the structuring and execution of LNG, Power, and Gas transactions
• Work closely with Trading, Operations, Compliance, Risk, and other internal teams to understand business needs and provide practical legal solutions
• Assist with identifying and assessing regulatory requirements relevant to LNG, Power, and Gas activities, including licensing and reporting obligations, and help ensure the company remains compliant

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in an in-house legal role or at an international law firm, ideally with exposure to LNG, Power, Gas, or broader energy trading
• Good foundation in legal drafting and contract negotiation, with an interest in developing expertise in energy marketing and trading agreements, both physical and financial
• Initial practical exposure to LNG or Natural Gas trading agreements is a strong advantage
• Good understanding of energy markets and an interest in commodity trading and related financial instruments
• Familiarity with EU commodity markets, exchanges, and commodity derivatives is a plus
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. German, French, or an Eastern European language is an advantage
• A proactive, curious, and collaborative mindset, with the motivation to learn and develop within a fast-paced energy trading environment
