Backend Developer Intern

ParetoLabs is looking for a motivated and passionate Backend Developer Intern with an interest in DevOps methodologies to join our growing team.

As part of our dynamic team, you will contribute to the backend systems that power our AI-driven applications. You will gain hands-on experience in designing, developing, testing, and deploying software solutions for clients across a wide range of industries.

Tasks

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of modern AI applications, including LLM-powered agents and copilots.
• Support the improvement and automation of our build, deployment, testing, and monitoring processes.
• Help design, implement, and operate reliable production and development environments.
• Collaborate closely with our multicultural team, sharing your ideas and learning from experienced colleagues.
• Take ownership of defined tasks and bring your own ideas to projects with real-world impact.

Requirements

• Educational Background: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• Python Development: Practical experience with Python through university, personal, or professional projects. Familiarity with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django is an advantage.
• API Development: Basic experience designing, developing, testing, and documenting REST APIs, including authentication, error handling, and integration with external services.
• Cloud Technologies: Familiarity with Microsoft Azure or a strong interest in learning how backend applications are deployed, operated, and monitored in the cloud.
• DevOps Fundamentals: Initial experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, automated testing, and deployment workflows.
• Databases: Basic knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases, data modelling, and integrating databases into backend applications.
• Technical Foundation: A good understanding of software architecture, networking fundamentals, application security, logging, and monitoring.
• Problem-Solving Skills: A curious, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn and take ownership of defined tasks.
• Teamwork: An open-minded team player who enjoys collaborating in a multicultural and interdisciplinary environment.
• Communication Skills: Good communication skills in English or German and the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and project stakeholders.
