ppbCompany Description /b /p pAt CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter – fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. /p h3Position Overview /h3 pYou will be part of the Experimental Physics (EP) Department, which carries out basic research. This Department aims at providing a stimulating scientific atmosphere and remains an important reference centre for the European physics community. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liContribute to particle physics experiment projects at CERN. /li liParticipate in the design and development of experiments and detectors. /li liSupport the operation and performance of detector systems. /li liAnalyse experimental data and contribute to physics results. /li liCollaborate with international teams and document results. /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 ul liPhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Physics or a related field. /li /ul h3Experience /h3 ul liTowards the beginning of your career, with some years of post‑doctoral experience in experimental particle physics. /li liExperience in data analysis and online/offline software. /li liDemonstrated competence in detector hardware and experimental instrumentation. /li /ul h3Technical Competencies /h3 ul liKnowledge and application of electromagnetic radiation propagation and interaction with matter. /li liPhysics analysis and experimental particle physics. /li liParticle detectors and interaction of particles with matter. /li /ul h3Behavioural Competencies /h3 ul liLearning and sharing knowledge: staying up‑to‑date with developments in your field and readily absorbing new information. /li liBuilding relationships: relating well to all people regardless of category/level within the Organisation. /li liWorking in the interest of the Organisation: actively promoting safety and encouraging others to do the same; respecting safety rules and procedures. /li /ul h3Language Skills /h3 ul liSpoken and written English, with a commitment to learn French. /li /ul h3Employment Conditions /h3 pContract type: Limited duration contract (5 years). Subject to certain conditions, holders of limited‑duration contracts may apply for an indefinite position. /p pWorking hours: 40 hours per week. /p pJob flexibility: Hybrid. /p pJob grade: 6–7.
