Job Description

Why Join us

Own your development at Nutreco, an SHV company. Here, curiosity drives us. You’ll join a multidisciplinary team working together to push boundaries in phytotechnology, explore new ideas, and transform insights into meaningful impact. Join us as a Phytochemistry Scientist and help shape pioneering discoveries at the Garden of the Future.

Nutreco Exploration, or NutEx, is where curiosity meets groundbreaking science. As our internal innovation engine, NutEx explores the frontiers of phytotechnology and microtechnology to create the next generation of ultra-specialty ingredients. At the Garden of the Future in Switzerland, our teams combine scientific rigor, creative thinking, and hands-on experimentation to unlock nature’s potential and drive meaningful breakthroughs. It’s a place where you can Own your ideas, challenge conventions, and help shape solutions that support more sustainable ways of feeding the world.

What you’ll do

  • In this role, you’ll lead and advance analytical development activities for our PhytoComplexes (EDGEOS) within the Garden of the Future. You will:

  • Design, optimize, and validate analytical methods—primarily HPLC-UV and complementary techniques such as HPLC MS—to ensure accurate and consistent phytochemical and feed analysis.

  • Interpret analytical data, troubleshoot deviations, and deliver high quality technical reports.

  • Oversee and execute stability studies.

  • Develop and write SOPs related to analytical methods, equipment operation, and laboratory workflows.

  • Ensure that analytical instruments are properly maintained, calibrated, and compliant with internal and external quality standards.

  • Support, train, and guide junior lab personnel to nurture continuous learning and technical excellence.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance laboratory efficiency and data accuracy through methodological innovation or new technologies.

  • Contribute to the selection, qualification, and commissioning of new laboratory equipment.

Who we’re looking for

  • You are a hands-on, analytical, and detail driven scientist who thrives in a dynamic research environment. You bring curiosity, initiative, and a collaborative mindset to help advance Nutreco’s phytotechnology program.

  • Master’s or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.

  • Professional laboratory experience—ideally within phytochemistry, food, or feed sectors.

  • Strong proficiency in analytical chemistry, including HPLC and sample preparation techniques (e.g., SPE, flash chromatography).

  • Solid understanding of plant phytochemistry and its application in analytical method development.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot analytical challenges and improve testing workflows.

  • Precision in documentation, data integrity, and reporting; GMP experience is a plus.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams.

  • Fluency in English; German language skills are an advantage.

What you’ll receive

  • At Nutreco, an SHV company, you’ll be part of a united global community driven by the purpose of Feeding the Future. Joining the NutEx Garden of the Future means becoming part of a creative, diverse, and scientifically ambitious environment where your work has direct impact. You will experience:

  • A highly innovative research ecosystem with access to state of the art facilities.

  • A collaborative, international team culture focused on learning and curiosity.

  • Flexible working hours (onsite), with a strong emphasis on wellbeing and professional development.

  • Competitive remuneration and pension scheme.

  • 25 vacation days.

  • Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning platform.

  • Opportunities for growth across Nutreco and the broader SHV family.
