Your responsibilities
Combined PhD position with the residency for the EVPC (European Veterinary Parasitology College) in the alternative training program. Research in Veterinary Parasitology with a focus on Leishmania infantum/leishmaniosis.
Your profile
We are looking for a motivated person with a strong interest in clinically relevant veterinary parasitoses. Research focus: Leishmania infantum/leishmaniosis.
You should be an open and flexible person with a willingness to identify new issues and get to the bottom of them. You are a team player and bring the necessary enthusiasm for this challenging and very fulfilling position.
You should fulfil the following requirements:
- degree in veterinary medicine, ideally from an EAEVE certified university;
- some experience in veterinary parasitology and/or experience in research, ideally including statistics and/or bioinformatics;
- you speak and write fluent English and German (or are willing to learn it).
What we offer
We offer a unique opportunity to combine research in a highly relevant topic (Leishmania sp./leishmaniosis) with a specialist veterinary training in an enriching environment.
The candidate will receive in-depth training in veterinary parasitology through active participation in diagnostics, case work-up and external courses. In addition, the candidate will be involved in teaching, be in close contact with the Institute's researchers and attend research seminars and journal clubs. The candidate will be supervised by two EVPC Diplomates. The residency lasts four years and ends with a board examination. More information on the EVPC residency programs can be found here: .
Our institute is located on the campus of the Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Zurich. We offer a good infrastructure in a collaborative research environment of the University of Zurich, a leading University of Switzerland, in a small and very active and interactive group.
The salary is based on the SNF conditions for doctoral students.
