This position is a field-based role within the Established Pharmaceutical Division, which can be based in Singapore, Basel or Dubai, where we are committed to bringing the benefits of our trusted medicines to more people in the world’s fastest-growing countries. Our broad portfolio of high-quality and differentiated branded generic medicines reaches across multiple therapeutic areas including gastroenterology, women's health, cardiometabolic, pain management / central nervous system, and respiratory.
The Head of Tender for the Emerging Market s will be responsible for the development and implementation of innovative strategies and approaches to continuously improve Abbott performance in the tender business. This role will be partnering with key markets and cross functional teams to build and execute best-in-class processes and solutions to leverage the local Tender Capabilities and optimize Abbott outcomes.
What You’ll Do :
Customer & Market Insight : Understand customer and market needs to build effective tender strategies. Anticipate trends and opportunities in the T&C business, continuously enhancing market and pricing intelligence.
Strategic Leadership : Define tender strategies and tactical initiatives with clear, measurable objectives and KPIs. Regularly report performance to senior management and key stakeholders.
Efficiency & Effectiveness : Ensure the global tender process is applied across markets, achieving the highest efficiency and effectiveness in tender bidding.
Innovation & Change : Drive innovation and lead change to improve tender capabilities. Partner with regional and local stakeholders to meet tender revenue objectives.
Operational Excellence : Advance Abbott EPD’s tender capabilities by evolving operational infrastructure, training, processes, and technology platforms.
Lead ongoing collaboration with the global supply organization to optimize COGS for the Abbott tender molecules.
Aggregate tender volume to achieve best COGs from the supply sites and coordinate supply chain management and process
alignment to maintain supply continuity and reliability.
Stakeholder Collaboration : Work with multidisciplinary teams including finance, supply, pricing, marketing, and local tender leaders to optimize tender processes and programs.
Engage and develop local market tender colleagues to become tender experts, supporting their capability development
needs. Ensure market tender leads have the right capabilities, processes and tools at hand to be successful in their tender
business and capture all growth opportunities
Proactive Planning : Ensure transparency on upcoming tender opportunities and involve all required functions to enhance our probability to win.
Supply Chain Optimization : Collaborate with the global supply organization to optimize COGS for tender molecules and maintain supply continuity and reliability.
Capability Development : Engage and develop local market tender colleagues, ensuring they have the right capabilities, processes, and tools to succeed.
Customer Value Propositions : Partner with marketing, corporate affairs, and commercial teams to develop robust customer value propositions.
Budget Management : Manage and control the OPEX budget for regional tender management and optimization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree in Healthcare, Business, Marketing, or Commerce preferred. MBA is a plus.
Experience :
3+ years Management experience (team and project management) preferably in the pharmaceutical industry
8+ years of Commercial Leadership experience required preferred in Emerging Markets (in multiple countries)
5+ years of working experience in Tender Management on local, regional, or global level is desired
Previous experience in global / regional leadership roles with extensive experience managing projects in a cross-cultural environment is preferred.
Previous knowledge with tender management systems is an advantage.
