Geneva College invites applications for a part-time online adjunct faculty member, for the Online Degree Programs in the Department of Professional and Online Graduate Studies.
The selected candidate(s) will teach online undergraduate Science courses, specifically in the content areas of Environmental Science and Earth and Space Science.
The position begins immediately, with teaching responsibilities beginning in or after January 2025, and will remain open until filled.

Summary of Responsibilities : This role teaches online Science classes, specifically in the content areas of Environmental Science and Earth and Space Science.
The person(s) in this role is responsible for providing quality instruction to students through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessments of learning, and clear documentation of student progress.
Please note that this role is not responsible for developing course material; a course syllabus is provided by the Online Degree Programs at Geneva College.
Essential Responsibilities : (These essential responsibilities are those the individual must be able to perform unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.)
- Teach assigned contact hours per semester.
- Adequately prepare for lessons. (Note : Preparation time will vary based on instructor experience in teaching that course.)
- Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations, and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved syllabus per faculty established guidelines.
- Provide interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting.
- Suitably challenge, engage, support, and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect.
- Provide timely grades to students through college software and upload mid-term and final grades by college deadlines.
- Respond to student questions on a timely basis.
- Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus.
Specific Responsibilities :
- Demonstrate quality online classroom management techniques.
- Provide quality assessment of student work with substantive, timely feedback.
- Engage in pedagogical practices that encourage student success and excellence.
- Incorporate faith-based discussions in class forums.
- Participate in online faculty development opportunities.
- Communicate (e.g., email, postings, live chat, etc.) in a timely manner with students and / or ODP staff regarding student concerns or issues.
- Proactively participate with students in the online classroom through forums, messaging, email, timely feedback, etc.
- Notify appropriate ODP staff of any curricular or course administration issues in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with ODP student success coach regarding student concerns.

Job Requirements - Administrative :
- General : Individuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed or are able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential responsibilities of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations in order to safely perform the essential responsibilities of the job.
- Physical : Must be able to perform the following : talking, hearing, and seeing. Must have sufficient manual dexterity to be able to operate all office equipment including, but not limited to computers, printers, copiers, scanners, and telephones.

Mental : Must be able to reason, analyze, prioritize, conceptualize, make judgments, and solve problems.
Qualifications :
Minimum : Education / Certification : Candidate must have obtained at least a conferred master's degree from an accredited U.
S. college / university (or international equivalent) in Environmental Science, Earth and Space Science, or a related field or a master's degree from an accredited U.
S. college / university (or international equivalent) with 18 graduate credit hours in Environmental Science, Earth and Space Science, or a related field.
Experience : Prior teaching experience, specifically with online populations, is strongly desired; however, training and support is provided by Geneva College ODP staff.
Skills / Abilities : Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products and leveraging the Internet. Proficient computer skills to correspond with students, enter grades and feedback in a timely fashion, and communicate with relevant Geneva College personnel electronically.
Candidate(s) must have a computer, reliable high-speed internet access, and other instructional resources needed to conduct class online from one's home.
Classes are taught asynchronously, and instructors must be accessible to students via electronic and telephonic means. Christian Commitment : An eligible candidate must be a thoughtful and articulate Christian and an active member of a Protestant evangelical Christian church.
Preference will be given to the candidate who supports and has an articulate understanding of the Reformed faith. An eligible candidate must understand and support the College's 'Foundational Concepts of Christian Education' by expressing an evangelical Christian profession of faith and demonstrate the ability to integrate a Christian perspective in their work.
- Preferred : Education / Certification : A terminal degree related to the field of Environmental Science or Earth and Space Science is highly preferred.
- Experience : Prior online teaching experience. Experience working withnon-traditional learners. Proficiency using a Learning Management System;
Moodle is preferred. Skills / Abilities : Curriculum development experience and / or knowledge of best practices in online curriculum design is preferred.
