We are seeking a highly motivated Insurance Manager to strengthen our Global Insurance & Risk Management team. Reporting to the Director of Global Insurance & Risk Management, you will play a key role in designing and implementing group-wide insurance and risk management programs, ensuring the protection of Alcon’s assets and earnings. In this role, you will provide oversight, administration, and advisory support for insurance placements across Alcon globally. Expanding beyond insurance, you will also help develop risk management strategies to mitigate key asset and liability risks.

You will be responsible for insurance governance, including risk analysis, insurance placements and renewals, claims support, loss prevention initiatives, and alternative risk transfer solutions, in coordination with the Head of Global Insurance. You will collaborate closely with the US Insurance Manager, Treasury team, Finance functions, and various risk owners across the Group.

In this role, a typical day will include:

- Insurance Program Management

• Analyze insurance opportunities in collaboration with risk owners.

• Structure and implement international insurance programs for key risks with a focus on PDBI, Marine, and Cyber insurance.

• Partner with brokers and insurers to develop and negotiate insurance solutions.

• Manage selected insurance programs and support the execution of Alcon’s Group insurance strategy.

• Ensure seamless implementation of insurance programs, including support for software and digitization initiatives.

- Renewals, Claims & Risk Advisory

• Support insurance renewals.

• Provide insurance advisory support on risk assessments, claims, and new placements.

• Optimize claims handling processes to maximize insurance recoveries.

- Risk Management & Strategy

• Assess, optimize, and monitor the global insurance portfolio in coordination with the Head of Global Insurance.

• Co-lead risk engineering efforts with production sites and drive risk improvement initiatives.

• Organize and participate in on-site risk assessments at manufacturing locations (EU, Asia).

• Participate in insurance procurement (RFPs) to secure optimal terms and conditions.

• Develop and present risk & insurance insights to senior executives.

- Budgeting, Reporting & Integration

• Support the budgeting process and identify opportunities to optimize cost-benefit profiles.

• Lead digitalization projects for the Global Insurance & Risk Management function.

• Support BD&L due diligence and oversee insurance & risk integration for acquired companies.

• Represent Alcon at industry events and professional associations (SIRM, insurers & brokers events, etc.).

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

- Education:

• Commercial apprenticeship with insurance specialization (minimum)

• Advanced degree in insurance and risk management (school of applied sciences, e.g. zhaw)

• Further insurance and risk management specialization such as ARM, rimap a plus; or

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, or Insurance (Master’s or MBA is a plus)

- Experience:

• 2–5 years of experience in an insurance environment (corporate insurance, insurance company, insurance broker, consultant).

- Language Skills:

• Excellent command of English (French or German is a plus).

- Skills & Competencies

• Strong team player in an international, multicultural, and cross-functional environment.

• Solid knowledge of corporate insurance lines and risk management practices.

• Experience with AI tools is an asset.

• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to travel up to 10% (mainly Zurich & London, occasional on-site visits).

• Reliable, flexible, open minded, team worker, creative, ability to self-critic.

Hybrid model: 4 days in the office, 1 day remote
