Materials science and technology are our passion. With our cutting-edge research, Empa's around 1,100 employees make essential contributions to the well-being of society for a future worth living. Empa is a research institution of the ETH Domain
You will play a key role in conducting systematic research on the quantum coherent manipulation of spins on surfaces. Particular emphasis is placed on molecular spin systems, where you can harness quantum correlations of many-body spin systems, enabled by atomically precise bottom-up synthesis. In our newly established lab, you will use low-temperature, high magnetic field scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and tuning fork atomic force microscopy (QPlus AFM), combined with electron spin resonance techniques. Your profile
Required qualifications include a Master's degrees in Physics, Nanoscience, Electronic Engineering, Quantum Chemistry or related fields, with a strong background in solid-state physics, quantum magnetism, UHV surface science, and / or nanoscience. Prior experience with scanning probe microscopy, preferably with a focus on magnetic nanostructures or spin resonance studies, and programming in Python would be advantageous. We are looking for a highly motivated energetic team player who is curiosity driven and has excellent communication skills in English.
