Global Medical Lead – Early Clinical Development (Oncology)

About the Role
We are hiring on behalf of our client in Basel for a Global Medical Lead (m/f/d) to support their clinical development team, with a strong focus on early-phase (Phase I) oncology trials. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative programs at the forefront of medical research. This strategic leadership role will guide early clinical development efforts, ensuring medical excellence and ethical integrity across global operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and direct the Medical Function in a region, various countries or with global responsibility scope.
- Manage talent pool by ensuring people development in all medical and related functions (Clinical Development, Drug Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs).
- Manage internal and external budget planning.
- Set and maintain a culture of the highest ethical standards for any medical activity in the region, various countries or globally.
- Oversee and govern decisions about approaches to secure the provision of product safety, medical information, as well as services to the company and external customers, in order to accomplish high level of commercial success.
- Provide management support to other GD and business and client functions as well as to other business initiatives and processes.
- Foster the business growth and sustainability by managing medical and clinical processes and activities in alliance with the overall client strategy. Decide on, and drive or actively support the implementation of medical strategy, tailored to the special needs of the region, various countries or globally. Establish and ensure governance, training and consistency. If responsible for a regions or various countries, appoint Country Medical Directors in cooperation with the GMA management and the CDH.
- Actively support the organization with product-related issue and risk management activities.
- Ensure within the area of responsibility appropriate communication between the medical and marketing organization.
- Initiate and maintain contacts with Key Opinion Leaders (KOL) where indicated.
Qualifications & Experience
- Medical Degree (MD or equivalent); PhD in a relevant life science field is a plus.
- Further education in Oncology or Internal Medicine highly preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or related functions.
- Proven leadership in global or regional medical teams.
- Deep understanding of early-phase oncology trials, regulatory frameworks, and clinical governance.
- Strong interpersonal and strategic communication skills.
- Fluent in English
