About Liom
Liom is a Swiss health-tech startup dedicated to revolutionizing the field of personalized health monitoring. Our objective is to develop the first health wearable monitoring glucose non-invasively.
We will launch our wearable as a consumer product in the EU in H1’2027, and then as a medically cleared product in the US.
Our team consists of over 80 staff, including more than 50 PhDs, with deep expertise in entrepreneurship, product development, and the required engineering as well as scientific disciplines.
We are operating out of our lab facilities in Pfäffikon SZ, Switzerland, and our office in San Francisco, United States.

We are a Swiss health-tech venture with the vision to use state-of-the-art detection techniques to continuously monitor and learn from a wide range of vital indicators, to better manage chronic diseases, to customize critical treatments and, to improve your health.
Using proprietary optical sensors, Liom is building a cutting-edge biomedical data generation pipeline to train medical-grade Machine Learning algorithms to infer glucose transcutaneously from spectral measurements.
To achieve our vision, our team and advisory board consist of world experts coming from top academic institutions (ETH, EPFL, Columbia, Princeton, or Harvard among others) and industry leaders (Baxter, Roche, Lonza).
We are looking for talented, experienced, voraciously curious, and self-driven professionals to join an A-team of doers.
After 4+ years in R&D phase, we are sprinting towards product development phase, and launch to market. Therefore, joining the team will be highly rewarding and educational.
You will be at the core of our product delivery as part of our multi-disciplinary Software Engineering team. You will be responsible for building our backend services landscape inter-connecting services such as our Data Platform and Mobile App.
We are building everything from ground-up and you will have the responsibility and freedom to make fundamental long-term decisions about our tech stack.
Your profile
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in writing software in one or more compiled programming languages (such as Java, C#, Go)
- Experience in taking green-field projects from scratch to production and making long-term architectural decisions
- Proficiency in building backend services for data intensive applications collecting and serving data to millions of users
- Proven experience building highly secure, and re-usable authentication middleware
- In-depth knowledge of containerization technologies and comfortable with deploying and maintaining your own infrastructure
- Deep expertise in designing and delivering RESTful APIs serving both mobile and web applications
- High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities, being comfortable in a dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment.
Nice to have
- Understanding of the regulatory environment with regards to processing and storage of highly sensitive health data in the US and EU (HIPAA, GDPR)
- Previous experience building A / B testing and feature flag infrastructure
- Familiarity with building backends serving ML models over REST APIs
