About the role

The Manager, ESG Disclosures, plays a pivotal role across various business functions, including Sustainability, Human Resources, CSD, Legal, IM / IT, and Non-Financial Reporting, to ensure compliant and comprehensive responses to ESG information requirements from both internal and external stakeholders. Central to this role is the meticulous crafting of qualitative, compliant disclosures as part of incoming regulatory reporting mandates, including, but not exclusively, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), alongside country-level reporting pertinent to Barry Callebaut's global operations. In addition, the role will be required to draft the Group’s Environmental and Social Impact report, GRI, and double materiality assessments, as well as ESG-related Group policies.

The role entails robust project management skills, necessitating leadership of internal teams in workstreams focused on ESG-related disclosure preparedness. An understanding and continuous monitoring of ESG reporting frameworks is integral.

The role is based in Zurich, Switzerland.

Key responsibilities include

Collate and produce qualitative ESG disclosures, including, but not limited to CSRD reporting requirements, the Group’s Sustainability report, GRI and double materiality assessments, country-level reporting pertinent to Barry Callebaut's global operations, and, the production / updating of Group policies.

Ensure comprehensive responses to ESG information requirements across various business functions, including Sustainability, Non-Financial Reporting, Human Resources, CSD, Legal, IM / IT and external stakeholders. This includes questionnaires, contribution to publications, and drafting of position statements.

Provide project management leadership for internal teams in workstreams focused on ESG-related disclosure preparedness, including :

Developing project plans and timelines for ESG-related disclosure initiatives.

Coordinating and facilitating cross-functional collaboration among team members from various departments.

Monitoring project progress, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies to ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs.

Communicating project updates and milestones to stakeholders, including senior management and external partners.

About you

Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, external / regulatory affairs, business or communications, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

7+ years experience in writing, editing, and developing regulatory documents, sustainability reporting or communications, across a range of ESG topics, ideally in FMCG companies, EU institutions or consultancies.

Experience in breaking down complex documents and information, distilling key messages, and tailoring them effectively for multiple target audiences.

Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to build strong internal networks, negotiate, influence, and drive change.

Excellent command of English - native speaker level essential.

Proven experience in project management, preferably in the context of sustainability initiatives.

Knowledge of ESG principles, frameworks, and reporting standards, such as GRI or CSRD.

Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and projects, proactively identify areas for improvement, and drive initiatives forward with minimal supervision.

Expertise in tackling complex issues and finding practical ways to overcome obstacles.

Ability to adapt priorities to changing ESG legislation and regulations.

Comfortable working without the framework of existing processes and systems, and able to adapt quickly to new challenges and opportunities.

Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders, both internally and externally.

Change management experience.

Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and focus on solutions that deliver the greatest impact with the available resources.

Ability to work in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment, where tasks and priorities may change quickly.

Quick to respond to emerging needs and adept at making sound decisions in fast-paced environments.

Passion for sustainability and corporate responsibility.

Self-starter and hands-on working style.

An interest in monitoring industry trends and stakeholder expectations in ESG and sustainability.
