Your Responsibilities

We are looking for a Technical Manager for our office in Chur, Switzerland, with the option of remote working.

  • Ensure the safe, reliable and cost-effective technical operation of our fleet in compliance with applicable regulations and company standards.
  • Provide technical and organisational leadership to the technical team in close coordination with Nautical / Technical Fleet Management.
  • Support onboard personnel with technical issues, repairs and maintenance, and conduct regular ship visits to assess technical condition and safety standards.
  • Plan and manage shipyard periods, winter maintenance, refits and modernisation projects, including the coordination of external contractors.
  • Develop the Planned Maintenance System and technical guidelines, and plan preventive maintenance and the replacement of machinery and equipment.
  • Review ship reports, maintenance records and operating data, and initiate corrective actions to improve safety and efficiency.
  • Develop, monitor and manage budgets for fuel, technical maintenance and shipyard periods, including cost analyses and forecasts.
  • Oversee technical purchasing and spare parts management together with the Purchasing Department, ensuring adequate stock levels and accurate system data.
  • Develop technical personnel through performance reviews, coaching and training, and contribute to recruitment, promotion and succession planning.

Additional responsibilities

  • Willingness to undertake regular business trips and ship visits.
  • Work closely with Nautical Management, Corporate Captains, Technical Superintendents, Corporate Machinists and the Purchasing Department; report directly to Nautical / Technical Fleet Management.

Your Profile

  • A degree in marine engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or naval architecture, or a comparable qualification.
  • A nautical or engineering certificate of competency, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in shore-based technical fleet management, preferably within the cruise industry.
  • Excellent German and English language skills; additional languages are an advantage.
  • Strong leadership, organisational and project management skills, with proficiency in IT and fleet management systems.
  • Experience with new builds and refits is an advantage, alongside a structured, responsible and collaborative approach to work.
