Global Supplier Quality & Development Engineer

h3Role Overview /h3pThe opportunity Hitachi Energy is seeking a Global Supplier Development Engineer for the Business Unit Transformers to join our innovative and forward‑thinking team. In this role, you will ensure our suppliers deliver high-quality materials while maintaining cost-effectiveness. You will implement proactive quality assurance processes to enhance the quality and delivery performance of our supply base. Aligning with our Category Strategy, you will lead supplier assessments, manage development initiatives, oversee parts approvals, and drive continuous improvement, ultimately elevating our supplier partnerships and contributing to our operational excellence. /ph3Responsibilities /h3ulliLead the supplier qualification process by conducting SAP Ariba assessments and executing global on‑site audits to ensure supplier compliance and capability. /liliImplement improvement actions at suppliers based on audit findings and identified process improvements, fostering enhanced collaboration and quality outcomes. /liliOversee the global parts approval process to ensure supplier materials and components meet technical and operational requirements. /liliMonitor supplier performance indicators and drive the annual Supplier Performance Evaluation process to identify and address low‑performing suppliers. /liliDevelop and implement action plans for supplier performance recovery, working closely with suppliers to ensure the effectiveness of corrective measures. /liliResolve escalated non‑conformities with suppliers by leading root cause analysis and ensuring proper implementation of corrective actions. /liliDrive continuous improvement in supplier management processes at a global level, ensuring compliance and promoting best practices across the business unit. /liliSupport SCM sustainability initiatives by executing tasks related to sustainability and compliance, ensuring alignment with material and supplier sustainability goals. /liliWillingness to travel internationally to conduct supplier assessments and audits. /li /ulh3Qualifications Requirements /h3ulliDegree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related field. /liliMinimum of 8 years of experience in quality assurance and supplier development in the field of metal fabrication, welding, machining, transformer components or similar industries. /liliKnowledge of heat treatment processes and surface protection processes such as hot‑dip galvanization, powder and wet paint processes, E‑coating (KTL) processes, etc. /liliFamiliarity with ISO‑9001, IATF16949, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards and external auditor certification is a plus. /liliWelding engineering/inspector certification (e.g. International Welding Engineer/Inspector (IWE/IWI), painting/coating inspector certification (e.g. FROSIO), NDT certification (ISO 9712) is a strong advantage. /liliGood understanding of management standards such as ISO 3834, EN 1090, welding standards (ISO 9606, ISO 15609, ISO 15614) and the quality acceptance levels (e.g. ISO 5817, ISO 23277) and Non‑destructive testing standards (ISO 3452, ISO 17637). /liliProven experience with the process audits, APQP/PPAP, PFMEA, Process Control Plan, and inspection test plan creation. /liliStrong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to make data‑driven decisions. /liliAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational and time‑management skills. /liliExcellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of interacting with suppliers and cross‑functional teams effectively. /li /ulh3More About Us /h3pWe believe great work thrives in an environment where people feel genuinely supported and fairly rewarded.
