As part of its strategic development, Euler Hermes Re is expanding its activity to third-party business outside the Allianz Trade ecosystem, creating a new growth platform. /ph3The role /h3pWe are seeking a Senior Reinsurance Underwriter to strenghen the development of this new third-party reinsurance portfolio in Trade Credit, Surety, and Specialty Credit lines of business. The role combines business origination, underwriting ownership, and strategic portfolio build-up in Trade Credit and Surety reinsurance. The successful candidate will play a key role in positioning Euler Hermes Re as a trusted partner for external cedants, leveraging its strong capacity, data-driven insights, and underwriting expertise. /ppLocation: Zurich /ppReports to: Chief Underwriting Officer /ppContract type: Permanent /ph3Main tasks /h3ulliBusiness Development: Identify, evaluate, and secure new third-party reinsurance opportunities with cedants (insurers and reinsurers) outside the Allianz Trade ecosystem /liliUnderwriting: Assess, price, and structure proportional and excess-of-loss treaty programs for Trade Credit, Surety, and Specialty risks. Ensure disciplined underwriting in line with profitability and risk appetite. /liliStrategy: Contribute to defining the strategic roadmap, risk appetite, and underwriting guidelines for the third-party book of business. /liliClient Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with cedants, brokers, and market intermediaries. Position Euler Hermes Re as a reliable reinsurance partner offering strong capacity and expertise. /liliAdvisory Value-Added Services: Structure reinsurance solutions tailored to cedants’ needs (capacity, capital, and advisory). Leverage internal tools (e.g., risk scoring, proprietary models) to enhance decision-making /liliPortfolio Management: Monitor portfolio performance, conduct regular reviews, and recommend corrective actions where needed /liliMarket Intelligence: Stay abreast of market trends, competitor activity, and regulatory developments in the Trade Credit Surety reinsurance space /liliCollaboration: Work closely with Actuarial, Risk, Finance, Claims, and Allianz Re teams. Contribute to the development of processes, governance, and underwriting standards for third-party business /li /ulh3Profile /h3h3Education /h3ulliUniversity degree in Finance, Economics, Insurance, Actuarial Science, or related field /li /ulh3Experience /h3ulli10–15+ years in reinsurance underwriting /liliStrong expertise in Trade Credit and/or Surety (essential) /liliProven track record in external / third-party business /liliSolid experience in treaty underwriting (proportional non-proportional) /liliDemonstrated experience in business development and building a reinsurance portfolio /li /ulh3Technical Expertise /h3ulliStrong underwriting of trade credit and surety exposures and risk assessment capabilities /liliExcellent understanding of reinsurance structuring, pricing, and capital considerations /liliAbility to combine data-driven analysis with expert judgment /li /ulh3Market Commercial Skills /h3ulliEstablished network across brokers and cedants /liliStrong origination and negotiation skills /liliAbility to build a sustainable and diversified portfolio in a competitive market /li /ulh3Personal Attributes /h3ulliEntrepreneurial mindset with strong ownership in a corporate environment /liliExcellent communication and influencing skills /liliInternational profile, comfortable in a matrix organization.
