Fusionality is building the measurement, simulation and control stack of the fusion energy reactors of the future.
Our technology enables effective and reliable operation, monitoring, and analysis of high-temperature plasmas in fusion devices — which will one day provide clean, practically limitless power to the grid. We have spun out of EPFL’s Swiss Plasma Center and have just completed our pre-seed fundraise.
We are looking for a Senior Control Systems Engineer to join our founding team in Lausanne and help build our core technology.
This job is for you if you are a passionate engineer with deep knowledge cutting across real-time / embedded systems, software and hardware, and excited about building the systems to monitor and control real-world fusion plasmas.
Tasks
- Implement real-time control, analysis, data acquisition systems in the kHz to MHz range, as individual contributor and in a team.
- Integrate solutions across a variety of company products and services as well as on our in-house test beds.
- Provide technical leadership within a growing real-time control and software engineering team that you will help to build.
- Translate customer needs into requirements and specifications.
Requirements
- Experience taking hard-real-time acquisition and control loops from incomplete requirements through to commissioning on hardware, in domains such as automotive, robotics, embedded, electrical and/or scientific instrumentation.
- ‘Full stack’: familiarity with all aspects of real-time technologies, from physical/DAQ, real-time software frameworks and middleware, real-time OS and integration.
- Fluency in a mix of high-level and low-level languages such as C, C++, Rust, MATLAB/Simulink, Python. Obsession with code quality, testing and reliability.
- Experience with distributed real-time systems, real-time networking and field buses and/or SCADA is an advantage.
- Experience with embedded/μC/FPGA technologies and/or safety critical systems is an advantage.
Benefits
- The unique opportunity to play a foundational role at a dynamic, fast-growing startup, shaping the technical solutions and products from the ground up.
- The opportunity to build cutting edge technology to monitor and control plasmas in real fusion devices, working side-by-side with leading plasma and control experts.
- Great working conditions, located in Lausanne, Switzerland, a city and country known for its high quality of life.
- Competitive salary and equity compensation and benefits including immigration assistance.
If you are excited about joining our team, send your CV including information about a real-time system you have taken into operation. We're looking forward to hearing from you.
