Platform Engineer

ph3Job Description /h3pAs a Platform Engineer, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of an in-house Linux distribution for medical devices. Your primary focus will be the next generation of a custom operating system abstraction layer, including a C++ system daemon and plugins that expose OS capabilities through an RPC API. /ph3Your Responsibilities Will Include /h3ulliDeveloping and maintaining the custom OS abstraction layer, with a strong focus on the modern C++ backend /liliImplementing and enhancing the next-generation system daemon /liliDeveloping plugins that expose operating system capabilities through an RPC API /liliContributing technical expertise to medical instrument and software development projects /liliCreating and maintaining C++ unit and integration tests /liliRefactoring and improving legacy code to ensure quality and maintainability /liliManaging Debian packages, configurations and related platform components /liliCollaborating with Linux software engineers and other technical stakeholders /li /ulh3About The Customer /h3pOur client is a globally recognised healthcare and life sciences organisation developing innovative medical instruments and software solutions. You will join a collaborative team of Linux software engineers within its enterprise platform and infrastructure division. /ph3Requirements /h3ulliAt least 10 years of hands‑on professional experience with modern C++ /liliStrong experience using Linux as a software development environment /liliMaster’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience /liliAdvanced English skills, including the ability to explain technical topics to non-technical audiences /liliStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently /liliQuick learner with a proactive, can‑do attitude /liliCollaborative and team‑oriented working style /li /ulh3Nice To Have /h3ulliExperience with virtualisation or container technologies, particularly Kubernetes /liliKnowledge of CI/CD pipelines /liliExperience with cloud platforms such as AWS /liliInfrastructure‑as‑Code experience, ideally with Terraform /liliExperience in embedded software, hardware drivers or ARM platforms /liliKnowledge of hardware and software integration /liliGerman language skills /li /ulh3Compensation Benefits /h3ulliWorkload: 80–100% /liliHybrid working model with approximately 50% onsite presence /liliFlexible working hours /liliInitial 12-month assignment with the possibility of extension /li /ul /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
