For our client in the pharmaceutical sector, based in Zug, we are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer to join a team developing and maintaining an in-house Linux platform used in medical devices.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a custom OS abstraction layer with a strong focus on modern C++ backend development.
• Design, implement, and maintain a system daemon and a suite of plugins exposing operating system capabilities through an RPC API.
• Contribute to the evolution and maintenance of an in-house Linux distribution for medical devices.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure software quality, reliability, and maintainability.
• Refactor legacy code, manage Debian packaging and configuration, and drive continuous platform improvements.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver technical solutions for medical instrument and software development projects.

Your Profile

• 10+ years of hands-on experience with modern C++ development.
• Strong experience developing software in a Linux environment.
• Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience with unit and integration testing, code refactoring, and Debian packaging/configuration.
• Fluent English, with the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively.

Background:

We are a team of Linux software engineers looking for a new team member to help us to develop and

maintain Roche’s inhouse Linux distribution for medical devices. The main focus of this role is to

implement and maintain the next generation of the custom OS abstraction layer: a C++ system

daemon and a large family of plugins that expose OS capabilities over an RPC API. Besides, all team

members are welcome to contribute in all areas they are interested in and feel comfortable.

The perfect candidate is a quick-learning team player with a “can-do” attitude who will drive the development and maintenance of our custom OS abstraction layer, focusing heavily on the C++ backend. Backed by a Master’s degree in Software Engineering or equivalent experience, you bring hands-on expertise with modern C++ in a Linux environment and are eager to apply your technical know-how to impactful medical instruments and software projects. Tasks & Responsibilities:
