Senior Protocol Engineer

ppI'm currently working with an early‑stage blockchain infrastructure company building a genuinely novel approach to on‑chain data, with queryable storage built directly into the protocol layer, removing the need for external indexers, subgraphs, and custom query infrastructure entirely. They're looking for a Protocol Engineer to help build the core technology that makes this possible, ahead of mainnet launch. This is a hands‑on technical role working closely with the Head of Protocol and CTO, alongside a small team of engineers who care deeply about building systems that actually work. You'll write code daily, debug hard problems, and own significant pieces of the architecture, spanning a reth‑based execution client, a queryable storage layer, and the smart contracts that power the network.This is a strong opportunity to join at exactly the right stage and shape foundational infrastructure that doesn't exist anywhere else yet. /ph3Responsibilities /h3ulliDevelop a reth‑based execution client with database functionality exposed as queryable storage. /liliOwn the storage layer, including query optimisation, TTL semantics, data pruning, and performance tuning. /liliBuild smart contracts covering bridge logic, gas reimbursement, and account abstraction depending on focus area. /liliMaintain strong testing discipline across unit tests, integration tests, and performance engineering. /liliWrite protocol specifications and API documentation for the features you build. /liliMaintain a high quality bar across the protocol codebase through code review. /li /ulh3Requirements /h3ulliStrong production proficiency in Rust, including ownership, lifetimes, async, and zero cost abstractions. /liliStrong foundation in data structures and algorithms, with the ability to reason about complexity, memory layout, and throughput. /liliSystems programming experience, with comfort in concurrency and performance profiling. /liliIdeally, experience designing database systems or high throughput data infrastructure (RocksDB, MDBX, or similar). /liliUnderstanding of blockchain fundamentals including consensus, execution, and state management; prior work on nodes or clients is a strong plus. /liliA testing mindset, writing tests that let you refactor and move quickly with confidence. /liliStrong plus: Contributions to reth or other Ethereum clients, designing database or storage systems from the ground up, open source contributions to relevant projects, solidity reading proficiency. /li /ulpIf you're a strong Rust engineer who wants to help build foundational blockchain infrastructure from the ground up, on a protocol that genuinely doesn't exist anywhere else yet, /p /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
