Swimming Assistant (Boys Changing room) - part-time

General Description The Swimming Assistant (Boys changing room) reports to the Primary School Principal and the PE team lead.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the smooth operation of the changing facilities for boys and for supervising students whilst they are at the pool, and provide basic first aid when required.

The hours for this position are currently set to (they are subject to change): Tuesdays: 11:15-13:45 Wednesday: 11:15-15:15Friday: 11:15-15:15 This is a part-time role (around 10.5h/week).

Due to the specific nature of the safeguarding requirements for this role, we are seeking a male candidate.

Main responsibilities Meet each class as they are handed over by the school bus driver or assistant teacher, making a note of the number of students in that class.

Supervise the efficient changing into swimwear.

Monitoring for safe and respectful behaviour, keeping noise low with awareness of being in a public space Ensure changing rooms are left tidily Check that the children needing a medical kit have brought it with them Ensure jewellery or watches are removed. Accompany students to the poolside to sit ready for registration by the swimming teachers.

Accompany the other class back to the showers and changing rooms.

Ensure students shower and change efficiently.

Ensure access to a first aid kit for treating minor injuries by applying waterproof plasters where necessary and changing plasters after swimming may be needed. Complete a report sheet for accidents that occur at the pool.

These should be given to the school and serious accidents are reported by phone to the school nurse.

Report any serious or ongoing behaviour issues in writing to either the PE Team leader or relevant Assistant Principal Take headcount before leaving and check for weather appropriate clothing Hand students over to the bus driver and receive the next class.
