The Swiss Police Institute (ISP) is the centre of expertise for the basic and continuing training of Swiss police forces and ensures the implementation of a national training doctrine. In addition to offering courses for managers and specialists, it coordinates the professional and advanced professional examinations for police officers as well as the certification of public security assistants. Supported by the Confederation, cantons and municipalities, this private law foundation develops teaching materials for police training and promotes applied research on topics of interest to the police.

To strengthen our team, we are advertising the following position (starting immediately or by agreement):

The Swiss Police Institute (SPI) is the competence centre for the training and further education of Swiss police forces and ensures the implementation of a national training doctrine. It offers courses for specialists and managers and coordinates the federal professional and advanced professional examinations for police officers as well as the certification of police security assistants. Furthermore, it develops learning media for police training and promotes applied research on police-relevant topics. The SPI is a private law foundation supported by the Confederation, cantons and municipalities.

Your main tasks

– Operational management: lead the Secretariat of OrTra Police from a professional, organisational and institutional perspective by participating in defining its strategic directions for the coming years. This role also involves chairing various commissions.

– Innovative examination concepts: ensure the relevant integration of modern technologies to adapt the competency-based examination system.

– Routine tasks: within the framework of courses and workshops, prepare experts for examinations as well as mentors throughout Switzerland for their roles and provide their support.

– Networking and collaboration: maintain exchanges with partner institutions to create synergies and continuously improve the police examination system. This role also requires representing the president of OrTra Police within national and international bodies and working groups.

Your profile

– University degree or degree from a university of applied sciences in the field of education or security

– Several years of professional experience in public security, preferably in the police

– Ability to integrate innovative training concepts with the latest technologies and methods

– Several years of experience in project coordination as well as in planning and implementing training programmes is an advantage

– Knowledge of the Swiss education system

– Proficiency in German and French; Italian is an asset

– Structured working method, flexibility, initiative and the ability to present complex topics clearly and convincingly

– Willingness and motivation to develop the police examination system for the future

– Innovative examination concepts: You ensure the appropriate integration of modern technologies to align the examination system with professional competencies.

– Frontline work: In courses and workshops, you prepare examination experts and mentors throughout Switzerland for their tasks and ensure their support.

– Networking and cooperation: You maintain exchanges with partner institutions to create synergies and continuously improve the police examination system. You represent the chairperson of the OdA in national and international committees and working groups.

Your profile

– University or university of applied sciences degree in education or security

– Several years of professional experience in public security, preferably with the police

– Ability to combine innovative learning concepts with current technologies and methods

– Several years of experience in project coordination as well as in planning and implementing educational programmes is a plus

– Knowledge of the Swiss education system

– Very good knowledge of German and French, knowledge of Italian is an advantage

– Structured working style, flexibility, initiative and the ability to present complex matters clearly and convincingly

– Willingness and motivation to further develop the police examination system with a future-oriented approach
