As a Mortgage Officer, you will act as the second line of defense in mortgage underwriting and servicing for domestic and international private banking clients. You will assess credit risk, ensure compliance, and support the front line in delivering sound mortgage solutions. This interesting role combines risk oversight with operational excellence, requiring close collaboration with Mortgage Advisors, Relationship Managers, and internal stakeholders.

YOUR CHALLENGE

• Evaluate mortgage requests within personal approval authority, assessing borrower creditworthiness, collateral, and structural risks

• Provide qualified feedback and recommendations to Mortgage Advisors and Relationship Managers

• Ensure all transactions meet legal, regulatory, and internal requirements

• Perform servicing and lifecycle administration of active mortgage facilities, including modifications and renewals

• Drive data quality improvements across current and new mortgage positions

• Contribute to process optimisation and operational excellence in close cooperation with stakeholders

• Maintain regular contact with Mortgage Advisors, the Julius Baer Real Estate Team, and Relationship Managers to support efficient transaction execution

YOUR PROFILE

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or related field; or relevant professional experience considered

• 3–5+ years of experience in mortgage lending, ideally within a private banking or wealth management environment

• Solid understanding of mortgage underwriting, product structures, and risk mitigation techniques

• Familiarity with Swiss banking regulations and frameworks

• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality results

• A collaborative mindset with strong communication skills — proven ability to work effectively as a team player in cross-functional environments

• Fluency in German or English, coupled with demonstrable proficiency in French or Italian, is strongly preferred
