As the Health and Safety Manager you will own the Health and Safety function of your respective area. As the Health and Safety Manager you will own the Health and Safety function of your respective area. You will be responsible for improving the health and safety of our data centers, advancing safety culture, and protecting our employees. Each day you will work with our data center engineers, the people who make the cloud go. They are working with electrical switching equipment, large scale air handling mechanical systems, and critical IT gear. You will work closely with experts in security, construction, operations, logistics, compliance, corporate counsel, and human resources to further the global health safety program. You will partner with employees as well as contractors to achieve health and safety goals and improve our already strong safety culture. As AWS increases data capacity you will partner with construction managers to ensure risks are identified and mitigated prior to live operations. You will work in a fast-paced environment where our operations are rapidly changing, advocating safe changes in the face of new infrastructure, new tools, and new products/processes. This role is for an experienced Safety Specialist or Safety Engineer. The role's prime responsibility will be to support the safety operations for Data Centers. You will be part of a regional and global team that works with internal and external partners to maintain and enhance the safety of operations. Close collaboration with onsite physical security, vendors, compliance officers, risk management, and fire/life safety systems is required. Additionally, you will work with employees and contractors to achieve specific safety objectives. You must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise and consistent messages verbally, in written form, and/or public speaking forums. You will advise, instruct and train company personnel on safety policies and procedures, as well as assist the teams in incorporating and improving our safety standards at their sites. You will report to the Regional Safety Manager – EMEA and be responsible for continuing to enhance the safety of operations and construction. Some domestic and international travel is required. /p h3Key job responsibilities /h3 ul liImplement safety standards, policies and best practices. /li liProvision and Management of Training: Induction, Refresher Training as required, develop and deliver training/presentations to support achievement of HS objectives. Ensure all HS training requirements are fulfilled. /li liCollaborate with vendors (General Contractors, sub-contractors, Emergency Services) as they relate to operations and construction. /li liEnsure compliance and implementation of global safety programs and local regulatory legislation. /li liDevelop and review safety plans for on-site emergencies, special events and other unique safety situations. /li liPerform safety data analysis and create bench marking. /li liEnsure safety record keeping and provide accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives. /li liConsult and work with compliance teams on safety regulations interpretations and investigations. /li liDevelop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injury. /li liAdapt to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, strategy and deadlines. /li liAble to work as part of a team and provide safety support to regions outside of local cluster when required. /li liOther duties as assigned. /li /ul h3About The Team /h3 pWe’re the people who keep the cloud running. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. /p h3Basic Qualifications /h3 ul liOccupational Safety Specialist in accordance with the Swiss Law Art. 11(d) VUV : /li liOccupational engineers or safety professionals who meet the requirements of Ordinance of 25 November 1996 on the Qualification of Occupational Safety Specialists; or /li liPersons in their capacity as safety specialists who have successfully passed the federal exam for occupational safety and health specialists, in accordance with Examination Ordinance of 7 August 2017 on the professional examination for occupational safety and health specialists /li liMinimum 5+ years of field experience in Safety. /li liFluent English and German language skills required. /li li- Occupational Safety Specialist in accordance with the Swiss Law Art. 11(d) VUV : /li li- Occupational engineers or safety professionals who meet the requirements of Ordinance of 25 November 1996 on the Qualification of Occupational Safety Specialists; or /li li- Persons in their capacity as safety specialists who have successfully passed the federal exam for occupational safety and health specialists, in accordance with Examination Ordinance of 7 August 2017 on the professional examination for occupational safety and health specialists /li li- Minimum 5+ years of field experience in Safety. /li li- Fluent English and German language skills required. /li /ul h3Preferred Qualifications /h3 ul liA good knowledge of the MSST directive and local HS regulation. /li liConsiderable knowledge of local safety and health regulatory laws and practices and workplace safety. /li liExperience / knowledge of implementing safety programs, processes, and procedural documentation. /li liData center, manufacturing, construction, or similar industry safety experience with mix of full-time employees and third-party contractors. /li /ul pAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
