ph3Certified Substitute School Nurse /h3 pLocation: District Wide /p pReports To: Building Principal/Human Resource Director /p h3Nature and Scope of the Job /h3 pTo act under the general direction of the Human Resource Director. To perform those duties required by school nurses to meet specific requirements as listed in state statutes and local school district policy related to the overall health care of students in the school system and other duties as assigned. School nurses employed by the Board of Education have the educational background, experiences and competencies to carry out the responsibilities and functions outlined below. School nurses continue to expand their identified roles. Professional growth is essential to any specialty area. Schools may well provide a facility in the nation for health promotion and the delivery of primary health care. /p h3Job Functions /h3 bEssential Functions: /b ol liRenders first aid as necessary to students and staff members as required during the school day, on school playgrounds and on field trips. /li liProvides information to staff members or students who have special health needs. /li liImplements school health management protocols for the child with special health needs, including the administration of medication and nursing procedures. /li liActs as a resource person in promoting health careers. /li liReports to the building principal and school secretary upon arrival at the school building. Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and implements nursing procedures and protocols as needed for students. /li /ol bOther Functions: /b ol liMay assist with the various “screening” (vision and hearing) activities throughout the school year. /li liFollows all school district policies and procedures. /li liProvides technical assistance to staff members in the area of health care education and management. /li liPerforms other duties as assigned. /li /ol pb--EMPLOYEES ARE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR ALL DUTIES OF THIS JOB-- /b /p h3Job Qualifications /h3 bKnowledge, Skills and Mental Ability: /b ul liPossess the ability to work with various personality types. /li liPossess sound emotional judgement. /li liPossess visual acuity, aided or non-aided, to read and interpret accurately written reports of a technical nature. /li liPossess the ability to enunciate clearly and communicate positively throughout the work day. /li liPossess the ability to follow and successfully complete both written and oral directions. /li liPossess the ability to calculate accurately. /li liPossess a knowledge of basic computer commands to run software related to word processing applications on a personal computer. /li /ul bEducation, License, Certification or Formal Training: /b ul liPossess current Wyoming Registered Nurse license. /li liFour year degree, either a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Registered Nurse approved program from an accredited college or university. /li /ul bEquipment Used: /b ul liVideo Play-back Equipment /li liSchool Computer /li liOtoscope /li liPhotocopy Machine /li liAssistive Technology Equipment - Audiometer /li liMedical Equipment - glucose meters, insulin pumps, feeding tube /li liSphygmometer /li /ul h3Physical Demands /h3 ul liPossess sufficient strength and stamina to remain seated for periods as long as 2 hours without fatigue or discomfort. /li liPossess sufficient strength and stamina to remain standing for periods as long as 2 hours without fatigue or discomfort. /li liPossess sufficient strength and stamina to remain in a “squatting” position for some period of time during the school day without fatigue or discomfort. /li liPossess sufficient strength to lift boxes or equipment that may weigh as much as 50 pounds and able to move them as far as 50 feet. /li liPossess visual acuity and stamina to work at a computer monitor for at least part of the day. /li /ul h3Environmental Demands /h3 ul liFrequent exposure to weather extremes. /li liOccasional exposure to blood-borne diseases. /li liAbility to travel to various assigned buildings. /li /ul /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
