This class also develops and implements curriculum and lesson plans, utilizes technology to facilitate learning, and demonstrates understanding of the varying learning styles and the needs of a diverse student population. /p h3Minimum Qualifications /h3 ul liPossession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college. /li liValid Connecticut State Board of Education teaching certificate/endorsement for Grades 7-12 (029). /li liConditional on possession of a valid Connecticut State Board of Education teaching certificate/endorsement for Grades 7-12 (029). /li liMay be required to possess and retain a current Motor Vehicle operator’s license. /li liBackground investigation may be conducted prior to appointment. /li liKnowledge of core curriculum areas for which the teacher is responsible, including mathematics and related subjects. /li liKnowledge of educational philosophy, teaching methods, and best practices. /li liKnowledge of child development, classroom management techniques, instructional technologies, and learner outcomes. /li liKnowledge of learning theory, student learning styles, multicultural and disability inclusive curriculum concepts. /li liKnowledge of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Scientific Research Based Interventions (SRBI). /li liExcellent listening skills and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. /li liAbility to evaluate student performance and present evaluations to foster higher achievement. /li liAbility to plan and implement lesson plans based on district and school goals and student needs. /li liAbility to adapt teaching styles to diverse student populations. /li liAbility to work in a cooperative learning environment and with individuals from diverse backgrounds. /li liAbility to multi-task and be flexible. /li /ul h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liAdvises, assists, and supervises students with internships, volunteering, and community service projects. /li liEvaluates student performance through examinations and other methods, maintains required student records, and submits required reports. /li liImplements the goals, objectives, and standards of the District, the school, and the specific program or department. /li liDevelops, adapts, and updates curriculum; implements lesson plans. /li liMaintains contact and communication with parents and schedules parent conferences. /li liParticipates in staff development and professional growth activities, mentors new teachers. /li liPerforms classroom management duties, enforces school rules, contributes to a positive learning environment. /li liCoordinates co‑curricular and extracurricular school activities, participates in bus, lunch, and playground duties as required, attends staff meetings, serves on committees. /li liProvides instruction in core curriculum, uses instructional resources and technologies, collaborates with other teachers, volunteers, and staff. /li liSupports students with special needs, assists with IEPs, coordinates mainstreaming and planning teams. /li liPerforms related duties as requested. /li /ul h3Working Conditions Physical Requirements /h3 pEmployees appointed to this class must maintain adequate physical strength, stamina, and visual and auditory acuity. A physical examination may be required.
