ph3POSITION /h3 pSPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST /p h3LOCATION /h3 pDISTRICT WIDE /p h3DATE POSTED /h3 pApril 22, 2026 /p h3APPLICATION DEADLINE /h3 pThis position will be filled for the upcoming 2026/2027 school year. /p h3QUALIFICATIONS /h3 ul liHold a master's degree or equivalent in speech-language pathology from an accredited program and meet all KRS 334A.050 requirements. /li liHold a valid speech‑language pathology license or interim license issued by the Kentucky Board of Speech‑Language Pathology and Audiology. /li liProven ability to work effectively with students, parents, faculty, and administration. /li /ul h3KNOWLEDGE OF /h3 ul liPrinciples and techniques of speech‑language therapy. /li liProcedures for assessment and treatment of communication disorders (speech sound production, receptive and expressive language, fluency, voice, oral motor, etc.). /li liState and federal laws and regulations regarding special education records, due process, and service provision. /li liLocal school district policies and procedures. /li liState laws governing the practice of speech‑language pathology. /li liKentucky Eligibility Guidelines for Communication Disabilities. /li liPrinciples of training and supervising staff. /li liHealth and safety regulations. /li /ul h3ABILITY TO /h3 ul liProvide speech‑language therapy to eligible students. /li liDevelop and evaluate treatment plans (IEPs). /li liBuild student rapport and create a positive therapeutic atmosphere. /li liCommunicate and work effectively with families of students with disabilities. /li liCollaborate with other professionals. /li liMaintain student records and prepare reports as specified by the District. /li liRead, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. /li liPrepare written evaluations and reports. /li liRemain current on therapeutic and special education issues. /li liOperate and maintain therapeutic and office equipment. /li liPrioritize and schedule work; meet schedules and timelines. /li liTrain and supervise others as needed. /li liObserve health and safety regulations. /li /ul h3JOB GOAL /h3 ul liUnder direction of the Admissions Release Committee, screen, assess, and identify students with communication disorders that adversely affect educational progress; develop and provide direct and indirect services according to IEP goals and objectives. /li liHelp reduce or eliminate speech and language impairments interfering with a student’s ability to derive full benefit from the educational program in the District. /li /ul h3PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES /h3 ul liPrepare written evaluations, maintain records documenting services, progress, and discharge recommendations. /li liComply with evaluation standards; determine eligibility per Kentucky Eligibility Guidelines for Communication Disorders. /li liCommunicate test results, diagnosis, and proposed treatment plans to the Admissions and Release Committee. /li liParticipate in multidisciplinary team process regarding eligibility, IEP development, consultation services, and delivery models. /li liEnsure compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. /li liProvide reports as needed by the district and/or KY Department of Education. /li liDevelop treatment plans aligned with IEP; review goals and recommend changes as appropriate. /li liEmploy appropriate instructional and therapeutic methods and materials. /li liOperate and maintain therapeutic equipment and train others in use. /li liAssess, select, and develop augmentative/alternative communication systems; provide training. /li liParticipate in hearing screening programs to identify and refer students with suspected hearing impairment or middle ear disorders. /li liSupervise and coordinate activities of any assigned staff; adhere to state law regarding length and type of supervision for assistants. /li liCommunicate with students, families, caregivers, and other service providers about the student’s disability and management. /li liAssist in developing classroom activities to meet communication needs of students. /li liStay current on instructional and technological advances in speech‑language therapy. /li liAttend professional workshops and conferences. /li liProvide in‑service training to professionals and paraprofessionals. /li liAttend staff meetings and serve on committees as needed. /li liOperate office equipment appropriately. /li liProvide thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, hearing, and language problems of children. /li liDevelop and implement a program of speech‑language therapy for students in need. /li liScreen to identify speech, language, and hearing disabled children at regular intervals. /li liRefer individuals to community agencies or specialists as appropriate. /li liMaintain all records and perform simple equipment checks and maintenance. /li liMaintain professional awareness of current literature and regulations. /li liPerform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or Superintendent. /li /ul h3RESPONSIBLE TO /h3 pDirector of Special Education /p h3NOTE /h3 pThis position will be filled as soon as possible.
