Independent Board Member (Reinsurance / Captive) (M/F)

A well-established captive reinsurance company, part of a large international industrial group, is looking to appoint an Independent Board Members to strengthen its Board of Directors and ensure continued compliance with Swiss regulatory requirements.

About the Company

The company operates as a captive reinsurance vehicle supporting the global risk management strategy of its parent group.

• Zurich (Switzerland): Finance, accounting, and executive functions (regulated environment)
• International operations: Underwriting, Claims, and Loss Prevention handled externally
• Structure: Lean, high-impact team based in Zurich

The Role

As an Independent Board Member, you will:

• Provide strategic oversight on financial, risk, and governance topics
• Participate in Board and Committee meetings (Audit and/or Risk)
• Ensure robust governance and regulatory compliance
• Challenge and support executive management on key decisions
• Bring expertise in reinsurance and captive structures
• Attend approximately 4 to 5 Board meetings per year in Zurich, as well as 1 meeting in South America per year

Profile

We are looking for senior professionals with:

• Strong experience in reinsurance and/or captive insurance
• Solid understanding of capital, risk, and regulatory frameworks
• Previous Board experience or exposure to governance at senior level
• Background within regulated environments (ideally Switzerland)
• Exposure to industrial or energy sectors is a plus

Languages

• English required
• Spanish and German strongly preferred
• French, Italian is an asset

Contract

• Non-executive Board position
• Annual compensation aligned with Board and Committee participation
